Lesson in what happens when you keep your best "spine" players and add more goals to it (McGoldrick). I honestly believe we couldve done similar in 2017 if our team hadn't been sold down the river.
You have to take your hat off to them this season. Tbf. Don't get me wrong - Sheffield United are a horrible club - but they've done well this year.
Dislike them loads, but big respect out of the championship games I’ve watched this season they are the best I’ve seen. Fully deserved. Can’t wait to see them get beat every week next season though.
They've done well. I though Mcgoldrick was a journeyman carthorse but he's been great for them. I think they'll need to strengthen considerably to stay up though, and ruthlessly discard most of the players that achieved promotion. If any of Sharp/Madine/Mcgoldrick start the first game they're probably doomed.
Don't like the club but Chris Wilder is a quality coach. Met him numerous times during my time living in Stocksbridge. He's a straight taking bloke who knows what he wants. He's not flashy just wants players to be fit and do their jobs and better themselves. He's old school, one of the good guys. You never hear him making excuses, his grievances usually have merit.
They've done well but God I hate listening to Wilder. Football Heaven will be a no go next season. Just hope they get beat every week and go down with a record low points total.
I hope they struggle but Wilder nailed on will strengthen signing known quality from smaller Prem clubs and Championship. This is controversial but if Villa don't go up, Hourihane will be a blade. He's a Wilder kinda player, give them chance to prove themselves at top level. Expect Che Adams back at the Bumhole Lane as well. They'll battle but remain strong if relegated.
I know, I just still feel a bit bitter about it. There were probably about a 100 reasons why we had to, but still it's galling that it always seems to be that way for us.
You may be right but I think they also needed cash. I know he wanted more money which they couldn't afford. Brum with their dodgy spending practices then stepped in.
Wilders a top manager he’s honed his skills the right way . No disrespect to Danny Rose but you don’t always get recognition by being offered a top club straight after your playing career ends . Sometimes you have to go into relative obscurity to learn and that’s something ex prem players are loathe to do imo
Agree. He's been promoted now, as a manager, from every division from Conference/National League to Championship. Rivalries aside, they deserve the promotion.
Except Hourihane, Winnall, Watkins etc would've all buggered off when their contracts were up. It's time to move on from those players.
Where does this idea come from that they’ll get battered every week in the Prem? Huddersfield stayed up first time round, a dreadful Cardiff side are still in with a chance with a week to go. Clubs like Brighton & Bournemouth are staying up. Burnley finished 7th last season on little investment. He’s only got to finish above 3 of Brighton, Bournemouth, Burnley, Southampton, Newcastle, Palace, Norwich & the other promoted side. It’s not exactly a huge ask
