Originally appointed on a 2 yr deal. Reckon we should add another 2 to that before the end of the season.. Don't want clubs sniffing around thinking cheap easy pickings after sacking their manager because he only has 12 months left on his contract. We need to keep hold of Daniel, even if we are promoted to the champ and go through a bad patch. His style of play, energy, desire and manner are everything that fits down at Oakwell. On to the final match, back in our hands but still nervous as hell. U reds!
Oddly enough I don't feel nervous The players and manager want to win, we've refound our form at exactly the right time and have a good chance of going up as champions. Think the team spirit has been great this season.
Especially if we get promoted. The end of next season we have a lot of players out of contract. If we don't go up they would be sold because they will want to try and play in the Championship with another club. If we go up with the extra funds we should expect our board to successfully extend a lot of the contracts key players are on. We'd also expect to see a better quality of player signing.
Stendel is the main man for this team, is passion and desire for the players and all the staff around him and I mean everybody, end of game sat he was shaking everybody's hand hugging the first aiders , proper good all round man deffo need 2 tie him down this could be a top 4 premiership manager in the making .
tbf we've seen it all before. reality is we're a big fish in a small pond, in League 1. championship is a totally different ball game. recent history proves we either struggle, or face a player exodus at the first sniff of anywhere near top 6. we also know if stendel has a bad start next season, people will be calling for his head within weeks - whichever league we're in.
They got a last minute goal against Sunderland. Portsmouth have gone off the boil, Sunderland fans reckoning they played for the point on Saturday. I'd be confident if I was posh fan.
They've already been quoted as say Portsmouth have gone off the boil? They'd won 7 on the bounce before Saturday.
Getting a draw at Sunderland after 7 wins is hardly going off the boil. We should definitely not underestimate or write them off just yet.
We draw on Saturday whilst Sunderland win both final games and Portsmouth draw on Tuesday and win on Saturday, and Luton lose meaning we are Champions and Luton 2nd on goal difference Imagine the meltdown in Marra country!!
I too am looking forward to see what happens in Summer, I have always felt it was unfair to judge previously. However I do believe if we go up there are some real difficult decisions to make. If the intention is to survive then most of these plus a couple of shrewd signings should be enough, however if it is to kick on then they either give the current players a chance or see quite a few leave and recruit at a higher level to replace....
