    Ok - we finished 2nd.
But that’s due to circumstances of our 2 strikers being injured on and off throughout the season.
If Moore and Woodrow would have been in the team together throughout the season then we would have been promoted weeks ago.

Prediction - next season Barnsley will finish at least 5 places above Luton.

Tbf we are second best overall. However I think we have a stronger, younger, fitter and maybe more ambitious squad and manager. Definitely think we ll stay up next season, and finish above Luton.

I think the fact that Luton finished 3 points above us does indicate we were indeed second best. That said there wasn’t a lot to choose between us when you look st the stats and as @Redhelen says I think we will finish above them next season. But a lot depends on the summers we both have.

Could have sworn we'd finished 2nd?

I'm sure Luton have had to contend with injuries too, not to mention the Manager leaving mid season. We were 2nd best that's clear, I would rather just congratulate Luton and be proud of our own achievements.

Personally I’d say the next few seasons for Luton could end up being like the last few for Wigan where they win League One one year then get relegated the next and repeat. Meanwhile the team that came just below them in L1 out performs them in the Champ. Just looking at Luton’s team, it seems to be composed of players like Moncur, Lee, Pearson that are capable of being amongst the best in League One but amongst the worst in the Championship (similar to the likes of Will Grigg/Nick Powell). I’d much prefer the position that Barnsley’s in player wise going into the Champ than what Luton’s is.

One of the worst seasons I can remember for injurys to key players pinnilos, moore,Woodrow and dougall all missing for long parts of the season. Not to mention injurys to many other players throughout. I think if moore and Woodrow hadn't missed 3 months each we would have been up before blackpool.

Certainly true that what position team finishes in when promoted doesn't count for much next season.

Our success & Luton's depends on a lot of factors. They have a different manager next season, that could go well, or badly.
We both will lose some players & sign others. How well we do that & how well our youngsters improve over preseason, will be the key.

Well just my opinion doesn't really matter now we have achieved what we set out to but we have been very unlucky with injurys.

We played Luton twice, and came out second best on neither occasion.

Over the course of 46 games, playing the same teams twice, we were overall second best, just. There's no disputing that and to do so is ignorance on a level as yet unheard of (except maybe with Brexit). That will have no bearing on how either team fares next season though and I too think we'll finish above Luton.

By your logic Coventry, Burton and Sunderland were better than us this season, fortunately the league table says different

I agree with an element of all previous posts. Hats off to worthy Champions Luton and wish us both well next season.

I’m afraid you are mistaken ‘exiled’ - the league table tells you nothing about individual results. Coventry, Burton and Sunderland *were* better than us on the day, but not over a season.
