Just seen that they have 20 players out of contract this season. Leaves them with just 9 players - 2 goalies, 1 defender, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers. Aren’t they still under transfer embargo, too? Don’t see how they can possibly come back from this. Even if they get all their issues sorted out.
41m in debt, no assets and players giving notice. Anderson and the Davies family not willing to put them in admin as neither wants to fund the process. High Court tomorrow for winding up hearing, of which there is a very real chance they will be liquidated
In a decent world, they would be expelled from the EFL,as it is they will continue in League One. I'm disgusted and losing interest and affection for professional football, this behaviour is one of many reasons why.
Yeah but it's not the poor fans fault and i would imagine club legend sir nat lofthouse would be turning in his grave right now. He was a gentleman.
I suspect they might yet be, if they even continue to exist. Luton were punished in an extremely draconian manner for far less serious offences, which were committed by a previous regime. The same should happen to Bolton, as a minimum.
If liquidated tomorrow that's it. They will have to restructure the leagues, and if AFC Bolton is formed will have to apply to join a league willing to take them and it won't be the EFL
Suspect that the Conference North will take them. Possibly even the National League, if they manage to retain usage of their stadium.
They wont be liquidated tomorrow, if I understand it right. The court can rule that the club is to be liquidated, but it takes (I think) 7 days to appoint a liquidator to handle the liquidation process. It's at that point we will all see what Ken Anderson's real goal is. Chances are, there will be loads of vultures trying to buy the rotting carcass of the club on the mega cheaply. If the reports are true that liquidation has been his referred exit route for the last few months(as it's believed it would be worth more to him than a normal sale), then we're going to see loads of stalling tactics. If he has got an ounce of integrity in him, he will make sure a sale goes through in those 7 days. I know where I would put my money though...
The only thing of interest to anyone is the stadium and training ground - that’s all there is value wise. But if I’m right, saleable parts of the ground were disposed of a few years ago to get money in (areas of car parks etc). So even then, the stadium and training ground can’t really be stripped of further assets anyway, and therefore are costly things to own unless you’ve got a good paying tenant. So the only tenant you could have is the football club itself - who would probably struggle to pay decent rent if in the National League etc. Basically, I can’t see on the face of it that the stadium and team would be split - unless via the BFC model where Bolton Council took it on as a ‘safe guard’ measure.
I thought there was the stadium, training ground, hotel and the car parks. think there was just loans secured against the car parks, so they would be sold to pay back that creditor(who was involved in an earlier failed consortium bid to take control of the club, where he would convert the debt into shares).
Well, the stadium and hotel are pretty much the same building If I remember rightly? Can’t remember the full details of the carparks, other than they were either sold or loans like you say. Training ground could be built on I guess, but I’ve not seen where it is or the facilities it has. Sad really, I feel for the fans, but this situation has been coming for years - it’s not a recent issue.
I don't. They're in this position now because they previously ran up debts which saw them qualify for Europe, get to a cup final and, latterly, relegate us. Their fans weren't complaining when their cheating sent us down. So they can suck it up now. Even when they plundered Craig Davies from us it was with money they didn't really have. Sir Ken Anderson: liquidate them.
Could finish up like Darlington, losing the stadium and playing way down the pyramid as 'say' Radcliffe.
According to Mark Illes who writes for the Bolton press a number of the few players still contracted to the club beyond this summer have handed in their two week notice to leave.
