Just because they have said they're not going to do 'anything crazy', doesn't mean they are going to stand back and let the club steer it's own course with no input.
I think the new owners have already shown that they aren't going to go crazy back in January. When it would have been quite reasonable to spend a few bob and strengthen the squad they chose not to and luckily we limped over the line thanks to the competition being *****. These guys are prudent businessmen and have no affiliation or sentimentality towards Barnsley that would instigate irrational spending.......and to be fair to them theyve explained their intent to this end.
I'll happily see our team 'luckily limp over the line' again if it means we have two defeats in the last twenty six league games next season!
Reight lucky we were, since January, only winning 14 games, losing one and bagging the second automatic spot that the majority on here said was impossible. Even after that one defeat, the noise on here was as though we’d lost 10 on the bounce. I love it.
Tbf I wouldn’t say the majority on this board said it was impossible . I’d say there’s more positive posters than knockers who are way way over the top in their criticism.
Hmm. I 'liked' his post, but I missed the bit about being lucky. I need to pay more attention in class!
OK yes we did fantastic and you can win as many as you like but at the end of the day if you are in the position of relying on the two teams challenging you for second place to drop points to lesser teams then you need luck. Those two teams didn't win any of their last three games.......how lucky was that for us?
Every team that ever gets promoted relies on other teams dropping points. It's not luck. They couldn't win the required number of games. We did.
Yeah that's fine over the course of the season but to get to almost the last two sets of matches and for those to go just perfectly for you was a massive of good fortune/ luck
All teams rely on others not winning to some extent. That's how leagues work. If Liverpool won every game, Man City wouldn't have a chance of winning the premier league. You would never describe Man City as being fortunate. The reds got 91 points and finished 2nd. Sunderland and Pompey might rue not winning games, but we won 4 on the bounce to put pressure on both of them. It worked a treat. It almost unsettled Luton as well.
Not the way I see it. They cracked under pressure. Would we have been lucky if they'd lost those games at the start of the season and gone into the last few games unable to catch us? It might seem like luck but the fact is they couldn't catch us despite busting a gut to do so.
I don't think that's his intention. We held it together at the end where others clearly felt the pressure. If others had held it together then perhaps we would be in the play-offs (that's sport). Think we played some excellent football at times (sublime even?) and thoroughly deserved to go up automatic, but you don't always get what you deserve (that's sport).
My last game at the Piggery was JCR sticking it up em aint been since the robbing swines. Probably go out on that fine note theer.
But then it was lucky for us that they cracked, they didn't have to crack.........lol....anyway I guess it's how you define luck....semantics.......blah blah blah.........anyway what did you have for ya tea?
