Their coverage tonight has been (and still is) top notch. Some great interviews and really capturing the mood of players and everyone else. Not been their biggest fan to say the least for a few years now but really enjoyed listening tonight.
Never understood the angst against it. "All they talk abart is united and wensdeh" but its called Radio Sheffield....
I’m with you. As it’s radio Sheffield it has a natural bias towards the Sheffield sides. I have no problem with that, I’ve simply stopped listening to it over the years.
I believe that they will not have the untethered access to United now they are in the Premiership, and with Rotherham back in league one will be giving us a lot more attention. Should Donny make it to the Championship that would water it down a bit
Nowt whatsoever to do with the name, the reason the Sheffield clubs are covered more is they have more fans proportionate to the other clubs. It could be called Radio South Yorkshire and it would still be the same.
For those who pay their BBC TV licence fee .....A portion of that goes to fund radio Sheffield! Therefore you are paying for a radio station that favours and provides bias to the bigger clubs, not the people’s view who are funding it!
This is true however they are license payer funded to cover the whole of the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire region so fans of other clubs pay just as much per head as the fans of the Sheffield massives. I understand that there is going to be more coverage on the phone-ins due to the Sheffield clubs having more fans so occupying more air time but I find that there is a disproportionate bias towards two clubs in the way the shows are produced and edited. One typical example is the manager interviews. I haven't listened for a while but when I did I used to get so hacked off with the Sheffield manager post match interviews being about ten minutes long but the other managers getting a minute if they're lucky.
It should be BBC south Yorkshire.proportiantly covers us and Rotherham and Doncaster and Chesterfield and Sheffield We pay for it in our licence. only local BBC for our area (no other BBC Station) so we should be on equal parity regarding news traffic reports sports commentary.
