Commiserations mate, really wanted you to win. Have to say, Charlton just about deserved it. All the best for next season, at least you’ll have a better idea of what’s required for the task ahead.
Yes commiserations to those Sunderland fans that have at least some idea of the league they are in, opposing teams strengths and weaknesses and their place in it.
Yeah thanks mate. Just downing my sorrows in the hotel bar. We didn't turn up (again), had a gift of a start but the manager and team didn't capitalise and although a last second winner hurts they had more going forward. Good luck for next season, you're a top quality poster.
Sad fact for honest Sunderland fans, is that they were not good enough on the day. Unless they've got the money to bring in new players, the team that took the field at Wembley today, would have probably struggled in the Championship, so it might be best for them to have another season in League One.
True. We would have built again but for what we've spent, as we all know, we have massively underachieved. I think the next few weeks will see a new manager and new controlling owner then we go again. That's football, there's always next season.
Brother in laws from Marsden. My sister and him are presently on a cruise. Had a text saying he's very disappointed but in truth, deep down he expected it. Massive investment needed to get back to where you once were, otherwise it's going to be a long and painstaking haul. Good luck for next season mate. We know only too well, how you are all feeling tonight, having had similar didappointments ourselves in the past. Tomorrow's another day.
Thanks mate. As your brother in law said, it's not a surprise, we crawled to the end of the season, having bear Portsmouth I had plenty of hope but that's all. I think we have the nucleus of a team that can finish top 2 but have lots of work to do. Unlike yourselves, Luton and Charlton, our manager hasn't a clue what his best team is. Good luck for next season.
Our John has supported Sunderland for nigh on forty years and from what he's said in the past, your views would appear to mirror his own. He too doesn't think Jack Ross is up to the job and wants to see a change. They're calling by on their way back off holiday, so I'll get him out for a jar to cheer him up. Every good wish for next season mate. We were in total despair when we failed to stay up in 17/18, but we're on a high right and now looking forward to next season. As we know, highs and lows, are all part and parcel of being a fans of our respective Clubs.
Oooft. To make it worse, it looks like Newcastle are being bought by the cousin of the Man Shįtty owner.
I know how you feel Spender. In 2000 a lot of Barnsley fans thought it was a lovely day out. However, from Barnard missing that penalty it went downhill pretty quick. I felt like it was the end of the world and it's felt like that for nineteen years. Granted we aren't Sunderland and haven't had the illustrious history and sustained periods in the top flight. However, going from a solid Championship side to relegation fodder and not quite being able to get back to where we were between 94/95 and 99/00 is still pretty hard to swallow. I'm hoping our new owners and Stendel will in time establish Barnsley as a top end Championship side and bring back the happy days I remember when I first started supporting the reds. As for Sunderland I think you'll re group, dust yourselves down and go again next season.
If you're lucky you could end up with a Stendel equivalent. Whilever you look to spend your way out of the league (Grigg anyone?)you'll struggle.
Yes it could be said that our recruitment policy is ideal for league 1. It's worked twice now. Conway doesn't want to change the formula so i'm excited to see who signs this summer. I do like the players we've been linked with if the names speculated about come to fruition. As for Sunderland. I bit of humility, respect the division and recruit young, hungry players instead of journeyman.
Agree SD. That season we got to the play off final was possibly our best and only chance since, for ever getting back into the Premiership. Always remember as we left Blundell Park, after beating Grimsby Town, I said to my mate " I'm convinced we're going up" and truth to tell, but for some bad luck, we really should have. Barney's penalty gaff and the gilt edged chance Hristov missed, finally contributed to us losing out, but it was a great season and a truly memorable day out. Seeing our supporters joining in the Ipswich fans barbecues around the outside areas surrounding the ground at the end of the game was good to see, but our collective disappointment was truly palpable. The silence in our car on the way back North was eerie and seeing Blunts fans on the Motorway bridges with their banners " Unlucky Dingles", did little to lighten our mood. Can't wait for MOD next season. Be good to see them getting a few pastings. I am always up beat in any close season over our chances of doing well. Fingers crossed, we make a few promising signings to add to the nucleus of the squad who are hopefully staying. If we can do that and hang on to our Coach, I am optimistic we can do well next term. I think a positive sign that Daniel is definitely staying, was the fact that there was a piece that I've seen " somewhere", that says that Dale Tonge is to remain as an Assistant Coach in the first team set up next season. To me, that shows it is probably all systems go, for what I hope will be a season where can consolidate in our attempts to at the very least , stay in the Championship in the long term.
I hope 'Baka' is reading this. Barnsley have more decent people as fans than Sunderland has 'numpties'.
The signs are that Ross will get another crack at it. He has to change his philosophy and build a fitter, stronger and more attacking team. I'm sceptical he can do it. Grigg has never looked fit and Ross appears to have no idea how to build a team to create chances for our strikers. One thing is for certain we are never going to win promotion playing Charlie Wyke as a lone striker.
