We know who we're playing next season. 2 new grounds to visit in Stoke and Swansea, so hopefully a decent cup draw. Some cracking away days, and most not too far, local derbies and big away followings coming to Oakwell. Happy days.
I won’t bother with any local derby games away from home. Can’t be arsed with paying 40 quid for a half 12 kick off. Stoke, both welsh clubs and Brentford are the only ones I’ve yet to visit in the championship. I’ll do three from four of those fixtures dependant.
Looking forward to the season already mate. Will this be Brentford's last playing at Griffin Park before they move grounds? I've got Stoke, Swansea, Middlesbrough and Cardiff to do as well as Brentford. My lad a bit gutted, he wanted Villa to stay down so he had another Birmingham club to go to - he'll hopefully be at University there for 5 years from September. Mind you, he's got Birmingham, WBA anyway, and not bad trips from there to places like Bristol or Cardiff tbh.
My gut feeling is similar tbh, and cost the main factor. With forward planning, it's often been better value going to the London away games than Leeds or Sheff Wed away and making a day/weekend in London of it.
Well I can get to Birmingham return plus match ticket for about same as a trip to the sty unless they change pricing structure... And Birmingham’s a cracking sup.
I'm in Birmingham - Derby's an easy day on the train. It's more expensive than Villa to get to but not much harder, assuming he's living near the station in Selly Oak. Better pubs too.
Stroll out at new street and sup round the station and a taxi or work your way to the ground. Easy innit.
Cheers mate. Yes, he'll be in Halls of Residence first year then hopefully house-sharing in Selly Oak following years. The university campus is fantastic, station in the middle of it.
Yes, I think next season will be your last chance for Griffin Park. New stadium looks well on it's way.
Love a visit to Griffin Park. Proper old school ground with friendly locals and stewards. I’ll miss it......
A few new grounds for me, Cardiff, Swansea, Stoke, Reading and Bristol City. I'll make every effort to get to Stoke with the rest being bonus trips. There's a few good away days to be had, although some may be dependant on how we're performing, the football element of an away day is only a small attraction for me but there's only so much enthusiasm one can muster when losing every week! One last trip to Griffin Park would be ace, lovely pubs nearby. Fulham is always a cracking day out so that's my London picks sorted, although the ease of a trip to Millwall via London Bridge always tempts. Birmingham is a great day out on the beers and whilst a lively place to visit, there's an old school charm about St Andrews that I really like. Preston (possibly via Blackpool) is usually a good away day, great away end and we often get a good result too! Wigan has to be one of the friendliest and easiest trips in the car, less so on the train! Forest is a good one to visit, lovely city and some wonderful pubs to pick from. The rest are a bit neither here nor there, but a good few to look forward to for everyone. I've left all the local games out as to be honest, they tend to be either over-priced, over-policed or put to 12noon kick offs. Often all three combined.
I went in 1993. I had only just stopped using crutches the day before after a knee op and ridiculously thought it wouldn't be a problem going down on the train and tube. Cue a hideously long walk from the tube and hobbling across a very busy road with fast moving traffic. It's a wonder I wasn't splattered. Carefree days. A mate wants us to go next season, mainly because it's the last chance to go in the pubs on each corner of the ground, which I understand are all open again.
Stoke, Swansea and Fulham and hopefully will manage to get Blackburn this time around. That will leave Charlton, Brentford, Millwall and QPR to do. Can't see me getting them all next season.
I definitely won't be going to Hillsborough. The feeling I usually get coming home from there is not one I am in any hurry to feel again, not when I can just get our lass to kick me in the nuts and save myself around £50.
