A really good read if you can spare 5 minutes: https://www.sportsjoe.ie/football/conor-hourihane-man-always-knew-201736
Good article without actually interviewing him. Always gave 100% Think he ll be fine in the premiership and good luck to him
It’s a great pity that Connor didn’t have a bit longer with us in the Championship. If he had he would have been sitting at the top table of Barnsley legends along with the Glavins, Hignetts and Redfearns.
Curious that we hardly get a mention in that article, although he developed a hell of a lot at Oakwell
Never really understood the adoration of him, he was a good player, but certainly not worthy of the fangirling a lot of folk have for him...
Great player for us and a great captain. Always talking to the lads giving out motivation and at times bollockings when they needed it also. Also did some good work in the community as well, the latest was when he messaged a fan on twitter who was going through hard times. Such a simple action but it means so much to people who admire him.
I take issue with the last bit. In not seeing his contract out, he played a part in facilitating the breakup of a team on the edge of the playoffs.
Was that his choice or the backrooms choice to get money for a player we'd lose for nothing in 6 month?
He had more assists in his time with us in the Championship than anyone else managed over the whole season. Reyt player.
I'm sure similar to winnall and bree he wanted to stay instead of multiplying his salary by 4 or 5 times. It was revealed by GG that Conor was offered 14k a week to make him the highest paid bfc player ever but chose to leave.
That guy in first paragraph was reight abart him being lazy, after a talking to he scored 5 int second haif, tossing it off first haif.
He got to the premiership though. He didnt leave under a cloud, club wanted money for him and he wanted a chance of premiership football. Played great in his last match for us, no sulks or histrionics in order to leave. And while the article didn't really mention us he would be thankful for his time here I'm sure.
