Yeah even on Piers Morgan Life Stories it said he's from South Yorkshire to avoid a Cudworth mention by being more specific.
Surprised that ex-Wolves player Ron Flowers is shown under Edlington ( Doncaster). When she was growing up in Edlo, my late Mum lived next door to former Newcastle United's Cup winning captain who later became their Manager Joe Harvey. Flowers was in the 66 World Cup squad and had some 15 years at Wolves, but for me, Harvey had a much more illustrious career, including playing for the Arabs during the war period.
Apparently he was a Sgt Major in the Royal Army Physical Training Corps and was stationed North of the Border where he made guest appearances for both the Arabs and Aberdeen. He was a familiar figure in Edlington whilst he played for Bradford City, but after the war, he was sold to Newcastle and my Mums brothers who had been his team mates in the local football team lost contact with him. My Dad and Mum and her brother and his wife, had a double wedding and Joe travelled down from Newcastle to Doncaster as a guest at the wedding. I haven't got them myself, but I think my Sister has still got some photographs taken on the day and Joe Harvey can be seen clearly on the back row of the group. My Mum used to say, that for all his fame and success, he never ever forgot his roots and was the same affable character she had remembered as a girl when he lived next door to her family.
