BARNSLEY. Turnbull at MOTHERWELL keen to come to England. Fee will have to be bigger. Bid also in for Thomas at DERBY but lad happy to wait to see what happens with manager ...
Correct Jack. I'm not registered on Twitter any more, so if anyone posts any content on the BBS, Twitter prevents me from opening it. Seen an article that says we persisting in trying to lure him South. He probably realises that if he went to Celtic, his game time could be limited. The fact that he could be keen to come is encouraging, but in my view, there's no Jack Pallance we'd pay £3 million for him, would we.??
Well if we buy at 2.5 million and he kicks on we should double at least, which fits the model Thing is these are higher figure gambles. I am sure we will continue to earn even if we pay more for higher quality.
This could be the change in transfer fees we’re going to pay to become an established Championship team.
To be fair Jack we have to if as you say, our aim is to cement a place in the Championship. I still personally feel that the Boards ultimate aim is the Premiership, but they don't want to add unnecessary pressures on the Coach and players by coming out and saying that. By signing improved quality players and awarding four year contracts they do appear to be going for systematic growth probably season on season. Nothing official yet, but if some of these signings do happen, we could well be heading in the right direction.
Nixon is just trying to jump on to already reported news. We are not trying to rush/push this through. He is.at Oakwell next week for his medical.
A lot of this stuff is coming from the players' agents direct to the journalist. Even if Thomas is due for a medical next week that wouldn't stop the agent trying to rustle up a last minute auction.
I have no idea what is happening with transfers. The fact we are linked with players like this has to be good. We need a model that can keep us in the championship. Hopefully we will have one. It is all finger in the air time as yet, but I'm fairly hopeful. I think we'll lose a few, like Lindsay, but if we get good money for the lad & spend it wisely, it's better than him running his contract down. The academy & our record on development of players has to be a big selling point, especially as we are now in the second division again.
