Interesting comments from town fans asking what the hell is going on. Perhaps something gone on behind the scenes? Wonder if head coach Jan Siewert will also soon be out the door.

Would anyone want Winkler back at Oakwell? I mean the first opportunity that came along and he was gone, couldn't wait to get out the door. He was probably on significantly more money at Huddersfield and he previously worked with Siewert but they were always going down.
I thought he may have stayed and seen the season through with us...

No I don't want him back. He made his bed and can now lie in it. It was his choice to leave and I don't begrudge him leaving us after two minutes for premier league riches.

Dale Tonge has been a loyal servant and played a big role in our success last season. He got promoted under the pressure of expectation to a role he hadn't done before and was a big success. It would be unfair to demote him to his old role just so Stendel can have his mate back.

I'm happy for Daniel Stendel to have whoever he wants on his coaching team. After what he's achieved for Barnsley Football Club, he's earned that right, in my opinion.

We scraped promotion in the end.Could have been a massively different senario ,no room for sentiment in this game.Do you think if Huddersfield offered Tongey 3 times his salary he wouldn't have jumped ship come on !!!

He left us after six months. He couldn't wait to leave. Tonge doesn't deserve to be demoted after what he's just helped us achieve. Scraping promotion is more down to Moore injury, Woodrow injury, Dougall two injuries, Potts sold and many other reasons before its anything to do with Winkler leaving.

Was thinking the same with what Stendel said in his recent interview. Convenient timing and all that with his departure announced today. Wonder if Winkler has approached Stendel and asked if he could return.

Totally agree. By bringing his mate back he might extend his contract

With Tonge only given that role to the end of the season - I thought Danny was waiting for a German coach to become available this summer.
But with Winkler being at Danny’s house when he found out Barnsley had got promoted - so obviously still good mates.
Would not surprise me at all if Winkler came back to Barnsley.

As long as Tonge is part of it too., we need some continuity for when Stendel does move on
