Anyone off here in there yesterday? We ended up there for a carvery last night. Not where we'd usually go, but circumstances meant we needed to be in Barnsley at that time. Other half has not stopped dashing to the loo since. We're all ok, but he had different food to us. Just wondered if anyone else is suffering? Got to say, whilst I was never a huge fan, the place has gone downhill. Packing as many in as possible, yet the food just doesn't seem fresh. Prices way up on last time we visited. Won't be back in a hurry.
Went at lunchtime and like you won't be rushing back. Prices have risen but quality of food has dropped, which seems the wrong way round to me
I went once years ago with the missus. As we stood waiting to get in, we glanced across to a nearby table. There we saw a female version of Mr Creosote with a gravy dribbled bib tucked into her neckline, and a huge cone shaped pile of food on her plate. A stack of Yorkshire puddings was perched at the summit of the pile, balancing delicately until, unwisely as it turned out, she attempted to pour some gravy into the top pudding. Having disturbed the equilibrium of the puddings, the gravy had to go somewhere, so it flowed off the plate, along the table and dripped into her crotch area. Having tucked her serviette into her neckline, her crotch was unprotected. My German wife then heard some as yet (for her) unrecognised words, whereupon we decided not to bother with our Sunday lunch after all. It's the only time I've attempted to eat there, as far as I'm concerned it's a glutton's paradise, nothing more. My wife describes it as "Just a machine for converting food into s**t". Never, ever again.
Used to go regular. Not been since they refurbished though so its sad to hear theyve gone downhill. I go to Dearne Valley Farm now as it's closer. Always excellent
We Stopped eating there a while back due to the sticky tables. Woe betide you if you have the temerity to go in just for a drink. Do not expect to be welcomed!
An early contender for post of the year! I thought about saying hello, but you were too busy mopping up "down there"
Agree. Re Dearne valley. (Closer for me too) Tend to go in during the week at less busier times. Re the one at dodworth. Went first time in over twelve months a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it to be fair.
Been once and will never go back. Poor quality of food, rubbish service and as Stahlrost describes perfectly it was a gluttons paradise.
Nowt wrong with Taybarns used go once a month get in for 12 and stay till 5 didn’t need to eat again for a couple of days
