There is a need to transition to that next level. But I agree it is a fine line; we need to be somewhere between 'throwing the kitchen sink at it' and 'relegation straight back to L1'. It's a hell of a struggle to get it right - just got to trust the powers that be!!

I dont think he is saying that, but we couldnt have offered Pinnock a contract on over 10k a week like we have just done when in League 1.
I trust them for sure. I think they have handled this window superbly so far. Many will disagree now after this news but so be it. We have offered contracts to many key players and most have signed (Woodrow, McGeehan, Brown etc.) and those that didnt have been sold for decentish money. Yes I agree Pinnock and Lindsay should be worth more but fact is they had 1 year left so was always going to get less than we could have otherwise.

They have also spent a fair bit of money bringing in some really good promising players on 4 year deals so if they are good we can get proper money for them.

But no one is suggesting that we should have offered Pinnock 10k a week last summer.

If your (as it turns out very realistic) aim is to gain promotion from the league you are currently in, it does not make sense to go into that season with 3 of your back 5 on 1 year or 2 year contracts. If you gain promotion, you must have played well. If you played well, your players will be in demand.

Maybe Pinnock/Lindsay/AD were offered contract extensions last year and didn't choose to accept — this seems unlikely, if you ask me. But I have no idea.

To suggest there was nothing the club could do to prevent losing Davies, Lindsay, and Pinnock — and that they shouldn't have foreseen it — is daft.

Club may or may not have offered new deals to those last year, we will never truly know. It does make sense to try and offer yes but issue is no guarantee they will sign them as they would have most likely wanted to leave this summer anyway if we would have stayed down.

Luckily we came up but unfortunately those 3 were key performers in that run so they have attracted offers from elsewhere who will pay them much more than we can pay them so we have lost them.

I'd guess that after the first couple of months of last season went well there was no way Pinnock was going to sign a new contract. Everyone knew he was class including himself and his agent and whether we'd come up a league or not it was obvious he was going to get offers far and above what we would be able to match.

Thiam and Pinillos have 12 months remaining on there respective contracts and Cavare as signed 12 months contract no sign of them being sold the Cavare one is strange as we activated the 12 months extension clause in the first contract he signed for us when joining just under 2 years ago !

This is just 3 players in the squad I know not fully looked into who else maybe here with that conundrum for the club.

Plus we need to be spending £8m to £9m just to get anywhere near the reinvesting of all the extra money incoming this season from player sales and upgrading Leagues that was promised this would be reinvested in the squad by Mr P Conman (Sorry Conway) there isn't a chance we will be investing this in the playing squad this side of the transfer window closing.

We have a lower Lg1 squad at present I feel for Mr Stendel.

You might want to edit your initial post. Not sure its a wise move typing libellous comments about a multi billionaire.

He's had several contract offers according to Conway, they were offering contracts out during last season.
