He's certainly up in quality with those listed & could do better than all of them.
At 26 he wasn't going to be around for long, just not sure Brentford is a great move for him, other than it being a move to London.

Futch is the best footballer I've seen for us at CB, but he was coming to the end of his career at that stage (although we still let him go too early!)

trust me they were great, totally attuned to each other. We have had some really good center back pairings over the years. I am confident we will have another for next season.

Pinnock was my favourite defender I’ve seen at Oakwell I have to admit. Class he was, and Brentford have got themselves a quality player on the cheap. Fair play to them.

One full season for Pinnock in what is the old third division is not enough to wipe away the memories of the class of many others who have preceded him and who had far more on their patch to deal with. Over many a year, and at mostly a higher level.

By May next year, he'd have had a more thorough test. And a more definitive judgment would thus have been passed.

As it will now forever be, we can at least say that last season he was class.

He did very well last season in the third division and made the team of the season.
He still had to prove himself for us at 2nd division level same as Lindsay.
I do wonder if its fear as well as immediate money which has made them move on.
Imagine if with those two we shipped 15 goals in first month.
What would they look like then?
I still think at 3 million we have had our pants pulled down.
But this is another old regime contract.

I am sure we will have an adequate replacement ready.
But again, it would be nice to be ahead of the game and see off all this criticism.
    Get our replacements in first!
Is our cash flow that bad?

    Hey ho. Little old Barnsley.

I don't understand how we still find ourselves in this position with billionnaire owners who claim that their aspirations are the Premiership. Baffling.

Don’t forget contracts are a two way thing if we want the player and competing for his signature we have to insert incentives as well as looking after our own interests .

Absolutely this. A very good defender but if he's the best centre half we've had then there's not much hope for us.

But why would we set pinnock at 3 mill from league two and brad potts at 1.5 that dont add up i think it sounds big money to conway coz he's new to the league but in the grand scheme of things its a giveaway.

Completely understand moving him on, it's the fee which astounds me.

I think we should have got more but I’m used to it following us.

I don’t agree with many that he’ll end up as a quality premier league defender though.

I think he’ll be a solid championship defender for most of his career. I think he relies on his pace to get him out of danger which he won’t get away with at the top level.

Plenty of times he’ll just get there with an outstretched leg & I don’t think he’ll get away with that against players as quick & as strong as him.

Just got that impression from watching him at Sunderland against Maja & against City U21’s.

That’s the point I’m making , he may have inserted the fee as I can’t see BFC limiting it to 3mil or whatever .
Stefan Payne for example may have also had similar but it didn’t work out for him.
I know it’s speculation but it’s not as improbable as some of the speculation that’s been bandied about in other threads.
