Sorry Jay, but whilst I liked Pinnock. In no way could he lace the boots of any of the above. ALL of which played at championship level or above. Seriously did you actually ever see the others play. Because I seriously can't see how you came to that conclusion. There is not one of those players I'd value below £10M plus. In today's market. I know people have differing opinions but to put Pinnock above all those stated. ( Although very good and can improve.) Is for me way off the mark.
PS what I do agree on is the amount received ,poor if the case.

Crack pipe has been passed around a bit tonight. One season in League One and he's the best we've ever had. Folk are stark raving barmy.

Don’t get me wrong I’ve really enjoyed watching Pinnock while he’s been here but if he’s as good as folk are making out why hasn’t a bigger club than Brentford come in for him? And I think that where the problem lies regarding the fee, there was never going to be a bidding war for his services.

You have your opinion, I have mine. And yes, seriously, I saw them all play. I believe Pinnock is better.

I don't believe how long you play for a team has any bearing on how good you are.

Anyway, we'll see, I fully expect Pinnock to be a premier league player. If you don't, that's fine, just opinions.

It's not much of an argument that mate. If the others I mentioned were so much better than Pinnock, why were they playing for us? In fact, why was Futcher playing for us, or Glavin, or Geddis... because life is like that and sometimes you get to see Gods grace the field. Brentford have got a good one, imho he won't be there long and the fact that they've secured his services is no reflection on talent.

Wasn't having a go Jay but everyone of those quoted have played at the highest level . I also agree how long you play doesn't always have any bearing . Seen one or two donkies but on current stats John stones would beat the lot and believe it or not most of those mentioned would be my 1st choice above stones. I Genuinely hope Pinnock has a fantastic career at the highest level. But this is the time when the premiership should have come calling. Opinions eh. Would be ***** if we all agreed. :you redz:

Best at Barnsley you’ve ever seen? He looked good in the ale house league- let’s remember that, he’s probably about as good as Matty Appleby in my 27 years of watching Barnsley regularly. Not as good as Gerry Taggart. Not as good as DeZuew, not as good as Stones, not as good as Mawson, not as good as Steve Davies, not as good as Carl Tyler....the list goes on.

Yea, so for once lets get what hes worth, like other teams seem to.
No problem whatsoever with him leaving for wages we can't compete with.

Why not have him play out his contract?

3M is what if we dont get an adequate replacement and end up relegated?

Maybe Pinnock himself didnt have the self belief that Davies had in himself.

McCarthy, Taggert and DeZeeuw were probably the best we've had imo.

Or maybe last summer Davies had just come off of a dreadful season & didn’t have many takers wanting to pay a fee for him as well as a good contract
