Ive come to this conclusion after the last 24hrs of critisism of the cub by some Why dont they av a whip round and spend their money running this club. They seem to know alot more than the current and past owners. But as we all know some people are very good at spending other peoples money.

I have a question. When do we stop refering to the owners as "new owners"?

Why do fans have to use their money to run the club when the no longer new owners don't spend their own money to do the same?

Did the Crynes donate the club to the new owners or did they use their own money to buy it?

The club are very good at spending my money and the money of 10,000 other season ticket holders. Or maybe not.

It makes me laugh to see people who are so deferential to the club that they lose any power of logical thought.

The fans have a whip round every other Saturday and many every Saturday plus merchandise drinks food and so on, how much does that add up to per year.
we are not Manchester united etc with huge sponsorship deals, if the fans stopped going it would be over for the club.

anyways i wonder what was the reason Patrick didn't turn the club over to the fans or supporters club so they could run it, as he said he was going to do
with the same people who were already running it and scouting the players using the same model and ideas
did the prospective owners at that time promise major sponsorship big ideas same as they did at OCG Nice which turned him away from that and those may will/ never materialise like they never did there

Reading that piece on Patrick Thistle saying the supporters own 30 %.
Red Rain said they bought the club for 2.5 million a crowdfund of 200 pound each 12500 donations a normal home crowd, we could have owned the club.
Crazy to think the supporters could have fully owned the club and that opportunity will never arise again

Spot on. There should be investigations into fan ownership. If the owners are unwilling to spend any money and are only keen to turn a profit for themselves, why are we letting them? That could be money reinvested into the club.

Yet everyone wants to build a statue of the last one who operated like that. Why the double standards?

The money is being reinvested into the club isn't it?

I would fear for my club if it was fan-run...

Fan owned doesn't mean people on forums or in pubs are running the club in any way shape or form
or making any day to day decisions or any decisions at all for that matter on the running of the club
    As you well know.
So your'e saying Patrick Cryne wasn't a fan running the club
just a business man, interesting view

As nice as fan ownership would be, I don't think that we would be able to put together a competitive championship side. I reckon at most the fans of a club our size may be able to support a yo-yo club between league 2 and the conference.. Pretty sure as well that we would be even more reliant on trying to make a profit from player sales just to keep afloat. Just the price of running a footy club these days.

Agree Vesp. I served on the Committee as a Trustee at my local Working Men's Club and although we all had the best of intentions, we seemed never to be able to agree on many things. They used to bicker over how many games of bingo ought to be played at weekends at every single meeting. I got so frustrated, that in the end I jacked.

I would think a fan run Football Club would be similar, if reading through the postings on the BBS
are anything to go by, as we could have many different views on how the Club should be run.

Having numerous donors all of whom are entitled to a say, wouldn't work. Any decision making, would be an absolute nightmare. Mate of mine who worked for Miller Construction on the erection of our new East Stand used to have two sayings. One was " the working mans greatest critic, is the working man" and the other , when discussing too many people having a say was " ask them to design you a horse and the odds are that they will eventually design you a camel."

If the current owners choose not to put their own money in to running the club then there is no difference between their ownership and fan ownership apart from stumping up the capital to buy in the first place.

Unlike most owners ours are trying to be self-sufficient. There would be nothing to stop supporters adopting the same model.

Fan run doesn't mean a single business man with a soft spot for the club, it means a huge consortium of equal share fans owning a stake in the club and every decision has be voted on by said stake holders. So yes, it does mean fans in pubs and forums...

Clubs like Real Madrid ,FC Barcelona and hundreds more around the world are fan run and they don't seem to be doing too shabby.
i would hope that the club would be run by professional people who have been given written authority to run the club as they saw fit.
shareholders appoint a director or persons to manage the business to run said company's on there behalf they don't do it themselves.
they would be no need to have changed any of the people running the club at that time
whether they be football fans of the club or non football fans would be irrelevant
The fans would own the club they would not have the authority to run it or run it from the tap room in the east dene
