Just signed for Fleetwood. Think this was a missed opportunity for us to get some championship experience into our team AND get another very good centre midfielder on the books.

Obviously the board will look see he's 30 and just disregard the idea as it goes against their plans but anyone else think we should've at least enquired and seen how much he wanted a week?

Why would we throw money at a past it, now injury prone 30 year old because he has 'championship experience'. Think of the cash we've thrown at useless players because they had 'experience at this level'. O'Connor, Mills, Pollit, Cranie, McPhail, Lita. Even the better ones like Harewood, Jon Macken, Andy Gray etc were money down the drain. Because we never got a penny return on any of them.

Is he past it though? Plenty of Sheff United fans were sad to see him go and would’ve kept him had they stayed in the championship.

Also injury prone? Where’s the evidence for that? He had his leg broke, came back and made 12 appearances for Sheff United last season. No other injuries in the past few year

Judging by the state most Championship clubs are in at the moment and only able to buy on free or loans, if he was any good he'd have been snapped up by now. Clearly not good enough in the eyes of the Championship after that injury.

A midfielder with the way we play who doesn't have the energy to run for 90 minutes is past it. United have a different system and he fit in it. I know where you are coming from but even if he has one season left in him then that's not good enough. We are (rightly) only looking at players we can get a return on. More importantly to play the system Stendel likes we need our midfielders to be quick, fit, possibly big and with potential to adapt to a very particular way of play and also improve technically. Coutts will never be that again.

That’s fair enough mate, thought I’d ask the question and you’ve given a good assessment why it wasn’t a viable option

I wouldn't know if any of our team are so called nob heads so how people seem to know all these things about opposing players is beyond me. Usual fan rival tittle tattle. Supposedly wants banning on here lets stick to facts or nowt.

I commented on here last month that I met coutts out in Vegas about 10 mins before he disappeared off to do something he maybe shouldn’t have been doing and the guy was a bell end so much so that if billy sharp wasn’t stood with him I’d have dropped him there and then, also the fact he called Barnsley ‘w@@kers’ is another reason I wouldn’t want him here,
