I remember a few years ago every player we had seemed to be so small and thinking that we simply got bullied by bigger opposition players. They say that a good big'un always beats a good littl'un. Let's hope so.
It looks as though we are looking to add a bit of a physical presence to our game... We are going to need all the help we can get so I'm sure a few bigger lads chipping in from set pieces won't harm anything.
Seems like tall lads, who can play the ball at their feet is the criteria generally. I suppose if you play a fluid, zonal marking system it makes good sense.
i can remember the year Huddersfield went up - they were like land of the giants - and they had a german coach.
True. Remember them turning up & having about 8 players well over 6 foot. Even the wingers seemed big lads. Mooy & the giants
Can remember Arsenal coming to Oakwell in the mid-90s for a Coca Cola cup tie and the height difference from front to back being massive.
Remember listening to that match on Hallam FM. Didn't Payton and Redfearn pepper their goal with long range efforts and end up losing 3-0?
Years ago didn't the first matchday programme of the season give names - ages - nationalities - birth places - height - weight of each player - everything apart from willy size?
