PRESS Daniel Stendel Club News Post-match reaction from Stalybridge Celtic victory. Continue reading on the official site...
So basically, he's desperate for an experienced centre half to steady the ship. Sounds absolutely logical to me. I'd be on the blower to Birmingham City first thing tomorrow.
I know it's only a friendly and DS English is not the best but in my opinion listening to that interview he wasn't his usual bubbley self... Came across to me like he's not entirely happy.. I Might be reading too much into things but he definitely wasn't happy about something... That's my take watching that
Mmm easy to read too much into it but agree with earlier comment usual bubbly self not there! Practical interview but does seem bit miffed!!
Hecky post Rotherham part 2 Stendel not happy and it’s clear to see. If we don’t sign some experienced championship players I can see him leaving very shortly And to be honest I wouldn’t blame him he’s a very good manager and he knows what’s required to be competitive next season
Yes he comes across as not impressed at all with losing both Pinnock and Lindsay. 'But that's the way from Barnsley'
But miffed at the owners or the ex players or in general? Time will tell, Sheff United game should tell us how big the gap is.
My heart sank a little when I saw this headline, the thought of it as a press release announcing he’d left was wizzing through my mind. Don’t do this to me Newsbot!!!
Have to say usually when I read comments like above, I often dont agree, but there was a definite change in him when discussing the centre backs, it was like he was thinking very hard about the right words to say, almost like he knew he was having to be careful with his choice of words.
Wow, Daniel does not seem impressed! He knows what we need to survive and the owners need to get him the tools he needs to do his job! And quickly!
Of course he's going to be annoyed, but he knew this going in. In all fairness the board have acted fast and brought in 7 new faces before the friendlies even started. I'm assuming that Stendel won't be glum for too long.
Impossible I'm sure for Daniel to stay down for long. It s up to the players from last season to make sure they gel with the newbies and get that team spirit going again. Agree that Daniel would have known about Davues and Lindsay but with Pinnock being at training from day 1 maybe he thought he would stay?
Normally I tend to think DS Using his 2nd language might send out the wrong signals. However, I am inclined to agree with those concerned that he is not happy with the current plan in its entirety. His, guarded words AND his body language does worry me. I think it is vital the owners heed his words and bring in at least one experienced senior player to at least start the season. It seems clear that DS regards the two latest signings as ones for the future who need developing. It may even mean that behind closed doors they have to break the wage structure for at least one key player. No reason that should open floodgates regarding other players demands if someone clearly has more higher league expierence.
Think people are reading a little bit too much into it. He seems quite relaxed to me. Yes he expresses some concerns but he ends the interview by saying that it's not easy to sign such players and at the right age and "he trusts the owners that we sign some player". Hecky by contrast was fuming following the Rotherham friendly.
Don't forget that DS is also a saleable asset. If he rubbed the board up the wrong way and let it be known he wasn't happy then I'm sure quite a few clubs would tout for his services, willing to pay the fee for his release. Money talks in BFC language.
I wouldn’t worry too much. He needs a good season here before clubs start coming in for him. Hecky’s name wasn’t getting linked with other clubs until he’d done well in the championship with us & I think it’ll be the same for Stendel. Promotion from league ones good but ultimately we’re expected to challenge for promotion at that level, if Stendel takes us to a mid-table finish, well away from the drop he’ll get plenty of interest from bigger clubs.
