Could it be that selling Moore, Pinnock, Lyndsay this summer with a sell on clause included that we think that possibly they have reached thier highest market value now as they may not get any better or their transfer value wouldnt increase if they stopped here another couple of years. I can see that if we sell on eg Kone, Anderson, Diaby in 2 seasons time we would potentially make more than if we tried to sell Moore, Lyndsay and Pinnock 2 years older? Cavare, Thiam, Woodrow, Mcgeehan, Mowatt, Brown, Bahre will all also be worth more with a season in the championship than if they were sold now. Hope that makes sense and shows the businesx side to our sales in and out this year.
Were valuing them at championship prices. That could indeed be their limit but if moore got off to flyer and scored 10 15 goals before January who knows what he could be worth. Same with pinnock a season similar to what he had last season but in the championship would easily make him worth 15m to a prem club just like mawson and swansea. Its all ifs and buts of course. If moore has a terrible start and scores only a couple of goals no one would touch him at 3m......
@Duntpasstome if you think the reason we have sold them is because their value has peaked, then I’m afraid you are very much mistaken.
You could argue John stones was under sold at 3 million , until the extra 6 million dropped thru the letterbox .
I thought we only got 1.5 million up front for Stones, which was scandalously low. We were very lucky with his subsequent transfer to Man City.
But still , net we did well out of the deal . It's just down to where you are on the pyramid . Forest green were never going to get 3 million for pinnock but we did . Maybe Forest green should have accepted lower than the 350k they got and added a sell on clause . Would have ended up better off long term......
You are not wrong and its difficult to explain but if we sell moore for £3m then get a million sell on in the future but sign Kone with the money and possibly sell him for £8million that could end up being better business than keeping Moore. Its only a point not fact, we have seen many a player move on for decent money but then not progressed with thier careers as we all would have thought from thier time with us. T
