For those doubters who say Thiam is overweight - those legs are pure muscle not fat. It’s the way he’s built hence why he smacks a ball without too much back-lift of his leg.

I've never said he's over weight. Disinterested in demeanour on the pitch often. If he's so muscly why does he get shoved off ball or never use his weight strength to tackle or out. Just interested.

Just his game - interesting though how for his size, he wins a lot of headers though. Power from those legs gets him up there.

For me, he’s not disinterested, it’s just how he comes across. He’s a very humble and polite guy when you talk to him - quite refreshing for a young lad. I think he’s his own worst enemy for not scoring - it plays on his mind. As we saw last year, he’s a confidence player.

I think he was overweight in his first season, he visibly lost weight throughout that season.

No issue with his weight since the start of last season

Might be controversial to say this, but I think the whole squad has got fitter since Nathan Winder left...

Out of interest, how's his English coming along? By all accounts it was very limited when he joined (compare with Bahre, who speaks better English than most British people). Learning the language must really help when in comes to settling in, both with team mates, and life in the country in general.

This thread is confirmed as only posted as a hurried excuse to his mrs why @Dub-Tyke was zooming in and staring intently at his thighs in a darkened room.

He's really not. His legs have a lot of muscle, but he's slight. I've met him, he's not big in any way.

I agree I think it's his build that is deceptive, plus he has very poor stamina so appears unfit.

We were miles fitter last season than under Heckingbottom/Morais that’s for sure. It was pathetic watching our players blowing out of their arses after half an hour.

Because he's built like a sprinter. He needs to spend less time squatting and more time running longer distances

How long was Winder there? Just wondering because we looked about as fit as I’ve ever seen a Barnsley team when we came up under Hecky that first season in the championship. Hourihane, Scowen, Watkins, Yiadom, Bree, Roberts, Kent etc all looked super fit but then the following season when all the new lads came in the squad didn’t seem anywhere near as fit.

Don’t know if that’s because they didn’t get a full pre-season or if the fitness coach changed or something else but there seemed to be a notable difference & we picked up more injuries I can ever remember a Barnsley side getting as well so something went wrong
