We made the mistake of thinking those players were good enough to kick on the following season. Or maybe it was just convenient to believe that.
He was too loyal to some of the squad that just weren’t good enough and he froze our best goalkeeper out for his mate .
That survival seemed to go to his head & he seemed to lose the plot a bit. I still can’t understand why he completely gave up on the 3-5-2 that had been so successful for us when we’d got virtually the same group of players & we were losing most games with a back 4. I still can’t understand why he kept signing midfielder after midfielder until we had about 15 on the books yet the only left back at the club was Tom Kennedy. I still can’t understand why he seemed to deliberately go out of his way to upset club legends like Hassell & Steele who had done so well for him the previous season. Think there were lots of things posted on here around that time about how most of the players picked were related to a single agent who also represented Flitcroft & Keith Hill. Interesting that after Flitcroft’s departure Cryne got shut of virtually all of them players within the next 2 transfer windows. I’d guess all was not above board.
He was Churchill in our darkest hour. When the light came, he mirrored Churchill again and showed he was clueless. He doesn’t seem to have learnt from mistakes and just keeps executing the same plan which hasn’t really worked, just got teams in a financial mess.
Because there have been complaints by board contributors in the past over multiple new threads on the self same topic CT. Classic cases are when we sign any new players and particularly when we are playing away from home during the season.
That's their "problem" to deal with. Don't worry about finding a two year old thread when you want to start a new discussion. If it's only been ten minutes then that's fair enough but more than a couple of days I think you're fine.
Hated flitcroft and his boring interviews. 10 minutes to answer a yes or no question. We survived that season after he abandoned a formation and style of play which obviously wasnt working. He got the best out of some poor players with his new style and we either beat or drew with the top 8 in the division on our way to survival. Season after he stobbornly ditched the tactics which had seen us almost unbeatable in favour for his original tippy tappy *****. I’ll never understand why he did that, proper thick
Never forget after we'd been thumped 4-0 by Wigan in our opening game the following season, I said to my son that it will be a long hard campaign. Even though Flitcroft was sacked, unfortunately couldn't reverse our decline and the inevitable happened
As someone that gets annoyed with 400 threads on the same subject, I agree with Conan that it would be absolutely fine in this instance. The thing that annoys people (myself included) is when a certain poster makes a new thread despite their being a thread of the same subject still at the top of the board. Not trying to make myself the BBS police by the way, just explaining what grinds my gears on here.
