Luke Steele, Daryl Murphy, Liam Bridcutt and Michael Hefele have been told they can leave Forest. Yes all 4 are over 25 but the experience we could do with I’d definitely take Bridcutt and Hefele even Murphy at a push.
Tha what he was class for hudds promotion just the experience we wanted and Luke would have made ideal new goaly coach.
With you on that. Would be an excellent addition to the back and the much needed experience Stendel desires. Think they will be plenty chasing him though.
Yep would be a great addition then could look at sending J Williams out on a season loan to get some game time.
We dont do that though. Its about making money off players. Ive resigned myself to us never getting anyone over 25 now, even if its a no brainer. The revelation that were borrowing money to buy players, imho, shows the club is kinda using us to make money. Ok we benefit to a degree but when a player does come available, is the board thinking, this player will help the team tremendously, or is it thinking, can we make any money on him. One thing is for sure, no player is ever going to stop long term, we just have to enjoy them before theyve been sold on, usually for 3 million.
A big, experienced German centre half who is still in his twenties. I'd like him to come here, even if current transfer policy appears to discount it.
Take Hefele for sure but leave the rest. We dont need any more keepers, Murphy isn't good enough nor is Bridcutt
I agree with you to an extent, and the club clearly do factor in re-sale value when we buy a player. Can't say I mind that myself as it at least shows we have a strategy which ensures financial stability and as long as the money is reinvested could also lead to success in the pitch. And whilst unlikely that we sign players over 25, I wouldn't completely rule it out just yet. Particularly considering the comments from Stendel.
Think hefele is a CB. And I wouldn't be surprised to see J Williams starting a few games this season.
Fair play and your also right. It kinda is what it is, cos wot was the alternative. The Financial stability point of view you make, i dont completly agree, wot if the player we bought with borrowed money turns out to be poor, the club has then to absorb the interest fees for say 2 year and if we then sell him for half the original transfer, im not convinced they will make up the shortfall, that i think will come from the clubs day to day money. Its very similar to what Man Ure have done and their yearly interest on loans figure exceeds 50million, which the club absorbs. Im no financial expert so im sure wot i say isnt 100% correct but i dont think its ideal. Time will tell.
Sorry mate should have added that I think Sibbock would be the other right back if Hefele was to sign and we’d let J Williams out on loan. But like you say he didn’t put a foot wrong last season so he’ll be given a chance for sure.
In a weak negoting position though once the club has said it doesnt want you though I suppose depending on how long their contracts are they can just stay and take the money and wait for the next manager around Xmas to put them back in favour
