https://podtail.com/en/podcast/i-had-trials-once/ Watched a couple of these episodes last night, the 2 that people might be interested in watching are the Danny Nardiello & Mike Phenix one's. Nardiello talks very fondly of his time here and Phenix explains how he felt like a fish out of water at Oakwell and didn't quite no how he ended up here, he also said that Hourihane was without a doubt the best player in our squad and Winnall was a greedy s*** even in training. Definitely worth a listen.
Yeah he said his reasoning was the treatment Shepherd gave his mate Shuker when the club withdrew his contract offer.
He says that he really regrets that move but obviously they offered him a lot more money so was abit of a no brained at the time
The Phenix move sounds a bit strange, suspicious almost. He was set for a move to Halifax before his manager at Telford pulled out a move to us for him. Typical of us not to realise he couldn’t be registered for another few months though. Passing blood and then minutes later coming on to make his football league debut for us, against Donny. Poor f*cker. Interesting how he said Winnall always wanted it ‘his way or no way’ in training.
Thanks for this, just listening to it now. The sound quality is a bit crap at times but enjoying it so far.
It amazes me that Winnall is criticised so much. For a goal scoring striker he had a very high number of assists as I pointed out many moons ago when he had a lean spell.
