Based on this morning! 36 for 3 against Ireland is not good! At this rate it may as well.be a ODI!

We can't bat. We've focussed so much on the one day game we've completely ignored to teach technique,

I can't wait for this coach to be gone. Truly dreadful tenure, though i'm sure he'll deem it successful despite the wrongful result in the world cup final.

It seems to be England’s destiny to be good at one version of the game or other, but not both together at the same time

Piled on Australia back in April to win the Ashes - seems to me we are well off the required batting levels for test match cricket.

It’s just like the world cup thread this.... I’m surprised someone’s not blamed Joffra Archer yet!

Yes we have made a right pot mess of it this morning but that doesn’t mean the ashes are lost or we are garbage

    I'm not too concerned about
This. 62-8, as I type, is desperate and terrible preparation for the Aussies however I'm pretty optimistic that England will be a very different proposition when we kick off the Ashes in a few days.

Agreed, there’s no accounting for a disaster like this but, and it’s a big but we must look forward to next week,

Let's not overlook what was a great performance from Ireland. To dismiss us before lunch
for 85 runs is no mean feat.

Hopefully that's going to hurt and we can bowl them out cheaply then get a good score in
    our second innings.

Still have to hope that over the four days we can still win it, but it's certainly a wake up call
    before the Ashes series proper.

Well done Ireland. The more countries we can get properly competing in test matches the better the game will be.

After a decent start to our second innings we've now lost 7 wickets for 77 runs.

This is worse than yesterday. From 170-1 on a red hot day against tiring bowlers on a flat pitch to 250-8 is just horrendous.

I've said it before, i'll say it again. We can't bat.

Lords is a tricky pitch, but as said above, tired bowlers, 35+ degree heat, flaky wafty shots is stupid, even moreso when you're not even in properly.

Time for a cull , same people failing most of the time . Time root gave up captain s role and return to just focusing on getting runs
