What about 55"? Thinking down the living room is furnished, I could and maybe should go a bit bigger Looked at the 55pus6703 but not sure it's quite as good as the 50# equivalent Did sign up for which but both the 55 and 50 inch versions were rated pretty poorly on there
This is not the best time to buy a TV as the best deals are before and after the new models come out in April and so most of the good clearance deals have gone. Don't know about Philips 55 inch TVs but look at the 55 inch versions of the Samsung TVs posted. Like this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-RU7100-inch-Smart-UHD/dp/B07Q3WX5V1 The RU7400 is better but more expensive. Also this looks like a good TV for the price although some say Hisense are not that reliable (and they're also owned by Chinese government who I wouldn't want to fund myself) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/hi...-from-549-454-after-cashback-at-aocom-3270444
No reviews yet but there's also this new Philips TV which has both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support and micro dimming. https://www.richersounds.com/philips-55pus6554.html And this one which is similar but also has Ambilight: https://www.richersounds.com/philips-55pus6754.html
Best time to buy a telly is actually in October. This year’s models will be discounted in the run up to Christmas and last year’s models that are left over from April will be given away*. My advice is to go into a showroom and have a look. I bought a new one last year. Did all my research, techradar, cnet reviews etc. and was all set to get a big Samsung model. Went into Currys cos it has a load of them on view and couldn’t believe how inferior the picture of all the tvs were compared to the LG oled models. Made my mind up there and then bought a 2017 65” LG oled from Richer Sounds for over a thousand quid cheaper than it had been on sale in April. Some people swear by other brands so this has got to be one time that you use your own eyes to judge. As for sound - got to be sound bar and sub. * not literally given for free!
TVs do look a lot different at home compared to in the showroom where the lighting is designed to show them at their best, they're even on a different mode ("retail" or "demo"). At home your TV might be in a dark room or a bright one and that affects things too, as well as where your seats and sofas are. Best looking TV I saw at Currys was a Sony OLED one but it was over £2000. Cheapest OLED you can get is a Toshiba one at £800 which is a bit more expensive than OP was looking at and why I didn't recommend any OLED TVs.
£504 each with code PAYDAY20, from a Barnsley-based retailer (only 1 year warranty on these though, and they don't have the best rep customer services wise). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-KD-...ee-Delivery-/253662107021?hash=item3b0f70958d https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Samsung-UE55RU7100-55-HDR-Smart-4K-TV-/283483110509?hash=item4200e8fc6d
If you buy a Sony 55 inch you can get the warranty extended in most cases to 5 years. You have to do a bit of spade work and contact Sony, but it works.I did it last year and after speaking to them and verifying your purchase they send you an e mail pdf.
