https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49133875 Only 3 months after being deducted 9 points for financial irregularities and overspending. Their net debt is £71.1million according to The Guardian. I dearly, dearly hope they go the same way as Bolton.
Their season ticket revenue will cover that and they are getting rent from Coventry too remember. Still seems unrealistic though as he will be on an eye watering wage too. As you say, here’s to them doing a Bolton.
They shouldn't be allowed to spend a penny when they're losing money at the rate they have in the last four years. When you add the 5-year contract on what's no doubt a fair few tens of thousand nicker a week, it's surely unsustainable.
There’s no deterrent they got deducted an amount of points that didn’t affect them either way. We got punished by playing to the rules and got relegated.
Would barely cover the fee but £20M outgoings does. But they’re not bury. The points deduction handed down last season is one of the biggest scandals in football. Appears No consistency. Can any one provide how punishments are handed out, re the rules. Or is it haphazard.
The guys from NTT20 podcast had a few words to say on this. Quite aside from the overspending thing, their main argument was this: if you're given £7m to improve Birmingham City, why on earth would you spend it all on one player? I can see them getting into big trouble this season.
Made a few shrewd signings too. Dan Crowley (who we had one loan) was signed from a Dutch team for 1m. He assisted more goals than anyone in the Dutch division last season.
