No offence taken. All valid points. All I’ll add is that you can’t please all of the people, all of the time, so whatever happens some will be disappointed as that’s just natural. The challenge on capacity is that there’s a hell of a lot more needed to service 600 plus vs. 300. Might not seem it looking from the outside in, but there is. Already got plans to make it easier next time but we’ll likely only need these for the warmer games ahead (fingers crossed)
Just standard alcohol licensing, nothing to do with BMBC. A permanent structure requires a lot more than something temporary. An industry thing not a local thing. Doesn’t mean it can’t happen, just highlighting that that’s one consideration amongst many.
Well done to the Club and a lot on here who are involved. I've asked questions about stuff myself on recycling, but understand the main thing is getting the staff & infra structure in place. It's a great move & they will get it right IMHO.
Got up to ground at about half 1 to give it a go, stood in the que for a bit and didn't really move, so just went into the ground for a drink. Sure things will improve and the demand was probably higher with it being new and opening day in the sunshine.
Had no problem getting in about 2:20 and although the queue for the bar looked long, it soon whittled down and I was at the front about 2 or 3 minutes later.. The young singer/guitarist was good as well. Didn't spot any toilet facilities so I had to wait till we got into the ground.
Being completely open and honest on recycling, we’re challenging ourselves on that all the time. The only plastic behind the bar is bottled water as everything non-draught is in cans. That just leaves the ‘glassware’. I understand everyone suggesting the hard plastics that we can reuse, but even with a glasswasher in the O Zone we just couldn’t keep up and halfway through service we’d have to move to the throwaway ones anyway, as well as lose one member of staff to just washing them in the sink. Add to that the fact we poured twice as many pints at the weekend than at anytime last season, from an outdoor bar that doesn’t have a glasswasher, and you can see our conundrum. Even with one installed that included a built in water tank, it wouldn’t be large enough to keep up with demand for what on Saturday was an 8:30am to 7:30pm shift that would have gone on until 8:30pm or 9pm had we been washing all those glasses as well as part of the close down. We could move to the cardboard ones which would help, but we’re on tight margins trying to keep the running costs down and the price points appealing, and they cost more plus they’re a terrible drinking experience. I’m sure we’ll figure it out eventually but like you say the immediate thoughts and challenges are making it functional for Winter and getting those queues down each week. Oh and making sure our Lager Tap is working for the next game as well!
I thought cup games were the tuesday after the first game of the season? Either way, thanks for the update!
