Why would he show a desire to leave Oakwell? Only thing l can think of is wages, they wouldn't be able to pay much on their crowds.
If we'd have lost the first game thered be hell on . So much for not selling any more. It's like Primark they've all got a cheap price tag .
My initial reaction was, no, surely not... why would he either want to leave for Wigan, and, why would we sell him. As I've gotten used to it, it probably makes sense. Stendels preferred style is fast pressing counter. For his size, he'll be used as a target man, but that's not his best game. He needs a lot of chances to convert, but he has been a handful for us and really took pressure off Cauley. I wonder without him, how Cauley will do being the focal point? The thing that probably makes most sense is the injury. I cant blame a player for looking to eek every drop of money out of their playing years having suffered such an injury. It must have shook him up. I know I was pretty shocked by it, seeing such a big guy poleaxed smashing his knee into his head. So I cant blame him if he thinks he can get more wages while he can and buffer that with signing on fees. I'd rather have kept him because he would bring a new dimension. However. That £2.5, 3, 4m, whatever it is needs putting on a player who would then be our best striker. if we've got something in the region of £9m in transfer fees, increased sponsorship, the additional £6-7m in tv monies, plus higher attendances and higher price categories than last year, we still have plenty to reinvest, on top of some of the sales last year and future sell on rights. if we're going to make the next step, we have to get closer to Bristol City getting £20m for players. But that means a whole new level of investing, and rather than squeamish £700k to £1m fees, it needs to jump to £3m and up.
I don't give a **** either way mate to be honest, it's only football and the world keeps turning , it's just when the powers that be said we arnt flogging anymore the fans understandably beleive it. Mushrooms us pal .
He would have been an alternative off the bench. However players are touted round by agents as it keeps them filthy rich. This is the longest he as stayed at a club. So fair play good buiseness for both. We move on agree with Yids in the dressing room. Harmony is the key .COYR
Last week didn't they? Sorry, forget the interview but sure they did. Not that I believed a word of it but pretty sure someone at the club said it.
I think dale Tonge said there had been no new interest as far as he was aware. But Conway and the owners have always said if a player want to leave and a offer is made which we think is acceptable he will be allowed to leave. It looks like what has happened here.
I don't remember them saying that. Might be completely wrong but I thought their stance was they would sell when a player is in the final year of their contract, rather than actively encouraging bids for players with multiple years left. Not that it makes any difference, they'll sell anyone at a profit, we know that, as disappointing as that is.
Everyone as a price even spud murthy when Clarky took him to Leeds . Good old Norman Rimmo said nar thanks am sticking wi Tarn
26. Probably one of his last chances for a payday on the back of last season, and I suspect he knows he will not figure as much in Daniel's preferred playing style in this league. I wish him well but I think we'll manage fine.
