After they sold our top goalscorer for £3 million and replaced him with a full back, who has never played a professional game, I decided to sell my house and replace it with some scatter cushions. I reckon we'll both be fine.
It was a good analogy until you said cushions... cushion covers without an actual cushion inside, I’d give you
You could argue we've replaced him with Chaplin and Wilkes, plus the imminent signing due from Austria. Hope it doesn't rain tonight!
Schmidt.... 21 years old I recall Stendel saying he wanted older players, ones with experience playing at this level. Sadly, not only have we got rid of our oldest heads, we’ve replaced them with an entire team of kids who could still play for our development squad. Stendel hasn’t been given what he’s publicly asked for. The players could all turn out to be amazing in time, but that doesn’t confront the obvious issue. Stendel hasn’t been listened to.
Indeed. Which post adds more to this forum, my light hearted take on transfer deadline day, an attempt at humour when we're all feeling a bit let down, which seems to have worked judging by the likes pouring in (no, I'm not courting them, just noticed them) or your contribution? Just give it a rest hey? You don't have to like it but why pollute the forum with that? It serves no purpose.
As opposed to the purpose added by having a hissy fitting flounce about not replacing a forward with a forward? I was also aware that we were going to announce another signing - of a forward (I assumed Schmidt but I didn’t know that for certain) - so as well as being a bit of a flounce, to which you are entitled, it was also somewhat premature.
Yeah but im interested what he actually said. I thought he said he would like more experience. I haven't heard him say older players. Im not sure how many games in the championship our squad have played or equivalent levels but i didn't hear him say he wanted older players.
How do you know he’s not been listened to? Could be that we made various offers for experienced people that he wanted and the clubs rejected them, is that the. Lungs fault? Should they have gone against their principals and offered silly money? Equally they could have ignored him, but question is same How do you know?
I’d have to go through actual interviews but it goes hand in hand that to have experience you need to have had time to amass that experience. I recall one of his comments saying he wanted experienced players of championship, but this is the Barnsley way (said with sad face resigned to not getting what he wants). Think it was after one of overseas friendlies. Aside from Radlinger (and Bähre), have we signed anyone over 21 who has amassed 50-100 games at the level he wanted? i feel for our manager.
I listened to 3 different interviews where he asked for championship experience. Have any of the 12 played in the championship before, at all, let alone 50+ games
I don’t know, if I were trying to build a team and kept getting hopeful potential rather than what I asked for, I might well get fed up and look at what my options were rather than sign a contract extension
