If it wasn't for Adam Hammill, Vaz Te and Paddy Mccourt. O'Brien would have looked good. I remember him most when we were 2-1 up and hanging on at home to Ipswich during the 2014/14 season. His attempt at a clearance that lead to their equaliser was amazing.
I'll never forget the performance by Jim O'Brien against Watford - when they went up to the PL. In all my years of watching Barnsley I have never seen anyone give so much effort. At the end Flitcroft carried him off the pitch - he had no more to give. He was amazing that day. Mind you, he took about a month to get back to his normal energy level.
I once dropped on him in the old no 7 in town . Really humble down to earth bloke all his mates grumbling as he was talking to us ages. Good grafter on the field . Yes he did serve us well. Played a great tune on his guitar too
