Lack of communication.

Still no idea why theres been no reason given as to extra ticket allocation for tomorrow.Wednesday fans same they cant buy tickets for north stand for some reason and have not been told why.Is this another plan to kill the atmosphere at games by reducing away allocations.

Even if they're genuinely still working on the situation which I doubt for one minute they ever gave a crap. They surely should come out and let us know their intentions.

After all they've openly said previously that football fans are customers in their eyes. Well the customer service is atrocious.

It's the most pathetic situation with tickets I've seen in a long time. The original ticket information said a further allocation was available. Then the last news was we were still waiting on a response from Wednesday. The fact nothing more has been said by anyone is shambolic.
Edit. I can only assume they are holding off announcing to try and stop reds going in the home end.

 

Exactly that though. They clearly said 3 thousand tickets were available if needed. The police us and Wednesday all know that to be the case. So why wouldn't they prepare for 3k turning up and if they're not sold act upon that accordingly.

I've always lived my life by prepare for worst and hope for best. How the police haven't done gone off that in this situation is embarrassing. Police yet again causing problems to the decent football fan.

 

We've sold over 2,000 the last two visits at £39 a go so why SYP didn't prepare for the same to happen FOR THE FIRST AWAY GAME OF THE SEASON is absolutely criminal - not like SYP to not prepare appropriately for a match at Hillsborough...

 

I think some of their fans are worried about it due to lack of revenue coming in (from us and possibly future games if it's regular restriction) and them not being able to offload some big earners on the playing staff (Rhodes...). Quite amusing to read a thread about the Bury game and them criticising them and Bolton for overspending money they don't have....like the pot and kettle having a one sided argument

 

I am told it is something to do with their current (or lack of) safety certificate in relation to numbers in certain stands.

 

Looks like the pigs have been hit with a safety management order due to the flow of supporters coming out of the leppings lane end

As said above though, there's no reason to not sell the away end to our fans because there's gonna be no Wednesday fans in that part of Sheffield now.

Following a high number of well publicised complaints by supporters of both Sheffield Clubs over the tactics deployed by South Yorkshire Police (SYP) following the Sheffield derby in March 2019, SYP commissioned a report from an expert in crowd safety from Manchester Metropolitan University. This report was submitted to the local Safety Advisory Group (SAG} in Sheffield.

At a subsequent meeting of the SAG, the report was presented by its author and SYP. Sheffield Wednesday were asked for the club’s observations and it was made clear in the strongest possible tone that we took serious issue with the findings of the report. We also questioned its timing, the author’s analysis of events in March and the fact the report was conducted without the prior knowledge of the club.

Alas, the SAG’s response to the report was to issue a Prohibition Notice and despite discussions running all the way up to Wednesday of this week - just three days before our first home game of the new season - the Notice was upheld. This prohibits the club from allowing home supporters to enter and exit the North Stand of Hillsborough via the Leppings Lane turnstiles and exit gates, beginning with Saturday’s Championship fixture against Barnsley.

The club has commissioned its own team of experts to prepare their own findings and provide the SAG with detailed responses and recommendations regarding crowd safety management and tactical options moving forward. Supporters can be assured that we are working diligently to resolve this matter and are fully committed to defending our position using all available legal routes in order for the Prohibition Notice to be lifted at the earliest opportunity.

We have worked around the clock with the EFL to ensure that Saturday’s game goes ahead in full accordance with the Prohibition Notice. The club notes the criminal offence nature of such a Notice served and the ramifications of a failure to comply.

Consequently, changes to the way in which the Barnsley game is managed will be in place on Saturday. Fundamentally, home supporters will be permitted access to the North Stand, albeit with a small reduction of available seats on the day. Access to the North Stand will be from Penistone Road only. Club officials will monitor the number of supporters seated in the North Stand and may require some fans with tickets to be relocated to a different area of the stadium, either the South Stand or Kop. However, we believe this is unlikely to happen as a result of the club taking tickets off sale in the North Stand last Friday.

Supporters with tickets for the North Stand are advised to enter the ground via the Penistone Road turnstiles as early as possible. Any supporter required to relocate will only be asked to do so should capacity be reached in line with the Prohibition Notice.

Following the final whistle, additional stewards will be deployed to aid the flow of supporters leaving the stadium as exiting the North Stand via the West Stand/Leppings Lane is prohibited.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by these measures which are outside of our control and respectfully request your full co-operation to ensure the club complies fully with the Prohibition Notice.

The club will be making no further comment given any impending court proceedings.

Clearly SYP need a prohibition notice against all the crims, and then they won't have to do any ******* work whatsoever.

 

SAFETY ADVISORY GROUP COMMENTS
Sheffield City Council is working with Sheffield Wednesday and South Yorkshire Police to address concerns with regards to crowd safety outside the Hillsborough Stadium, on the Leppings Lane forecourt.

Steve Lonnia, Chair of the Council’s Safety Advisory Group, said: “Following the submission of a report commissioned by South Yorkshire Police that highlighted issues with regards to public safety on the Leppings Lane forecourt at Hillsborough Stadium, the Council and members of the group have worked very closely with Sheffield Wednesday to resolve these issues.

“As the certifying authority, public safety is of paramount importance and it is our duty to act on matters that pose a risk to the public. Due to the evidence presented in the report, we immediately requested that the club submit proposals to deal with the issues raised.

“A prohibition notice has been served that means there will be no access or egress from the North and South Stands on to the Leppings Lane forecourt for home supporters.

“Throughout this process we have worked together with Sheffield Wednesday to find a safe and acceptable solution to these issues and they have now submitted proposals in an attempt to address them. As the Certifying Authority we will now assess these with the other members of the Safety Advisory Group.”

We received the proposals from the club to address the concerns ahead of tomorrow’s match, at 10am this morning. We will work in partnership, in the time now available, to seek a positive outcome but our priority will always remain public safety.

Following the last Sheffield derby, South Yorkshire Police listened to feedback from supporters, the SYP Football Independent Advisory Group and commissioned an independent analysis of crowd safety at the stadium.

The report was provided to the club on 27 June 2019 and since then, and going forward, we remain committed to working with the club, the SAG and all partners to ensure the safety of everyone attending matches at Sheffield Wednesday.

Having made considerable effort pulling together plans to meet deficiencies in the club’s safety arrangements, it is disappointing they should seek to criticise our approach.

The club were provided with a copy of the Manchester Metropolitan University report on 27 June, but the initial SAG, on 17 July arranged so the concerns raised in the report could addressed ahead of the new season, was cancelled because the club would not attend.

At the rearranged SAG on 25 July, the club’s response was found to be inadequate, leading the SAG to issue the prohibition notice.

SYP only received a written response and proposals on 6 August, which were again found to be inadequate by the SAG. Viable proposals were sent to SYP, via the SAG, at 10am on Friday 9 August 2019.

The club statement, that the measures in place for Saturday’s games are outside of their control, is factually incorrect and misleading, as they hold the responsibility for crowd safety, entrance and egress to the stadium, and the traffic management around the venue.

While the match tomorrow will go ahead, there is clearly further work to be done due to various issues raised as a result of this process. The safety of the public has to remain our top priority.
