The last time it was 4,500....... https://www.leedsunited.com/news/ticketing/22522/tickets-barnsley-a This time it's 4,400..... https://www.leedsunited.com/news/ticketing/25405/tickets-barnsley-a Why is our away end having yet another 100 seats unsold? That's 1,600 seats in a 6,000 North Stand that we could have sold at 36 quid and can't....... https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/club/oakwell-stadium/ On a side note could we not have an away only fanzone like Wigan do with their Marquee bar? I wouldn't think it would cost much to for example cover a training/academy pitch and put a few mobile bars there. We have a lot of land behind that away end that could be making a lot of money selling food and drink to visiting supporters, to take business off places like Metrodome. Police would probably love the idea too of opposition fans heading to the ground earlier and being more likely to keep out of the town centre.
A lot of them not understanding reciprocal pricing and having the nerve to call our ground and away end. Seems they sold out pretty much straight away, but messed up having it as first come first served instead of a loyalty scheme.
A mate of mine is a Leeds season ticket holder. He goes to most away games too. Struggled so far this season, as they just open it to first come, first served for season ticket holders. Which means they go pretty much straight away.
Their fans are literally the reason why they get charged megabucks wherever they go and at home - they couldn't possibly boycott a few games, no, they're the mighty Leeds United and must sell out everywhere they go because their reputation is more important than not paying ridiculous prices.
In answer to the original question, we sell fewer tickets on a Sunday for religious reasons. There's a law that says you can't sell full allocations or fill empty sections of football grounds on Sundays. Some ancient police legal precedent in conjunction with Archbishop Tutu.
You'd think when so few away games have been played, that loyalty would be shown to those who went away a lot last season. Free for all isn't fair.
Yeah totally agree. My mate did some proper mileage last year - hardly missed an away game. Think Barnsley was the first he’s got this season. It’s difficult keeping over 20k season ticket holders happy - but I’m sure the system worked before they changed it.
Is this actually true? I know that we can't sell all 6,000 tickets because of an issue with evacuation times.
Same reason ASDA Meadowhall etc can't open until 10.00 on a Sunday. (my father tells me that BBC t v used to shut down between 6 and 7 on a Sunday many years ago.)
To be fair, there have been times when the Leeds fans have evacuated the away end pretty quickly. Like when we beat them 5-2 and 4-1 in successive seasons. Never seen fans exit so fast... Hoping for something similar this month.
Thats where the fanzone should be. It would half policing costs this season... Full time get the bar back open for half an hour. Let the home crowd work their way to the courthouse via Asda and the amoint of bother would be minimal.
We must be able to afford to chuck £50,000 away!! Not having at least 5000 in the stand is a complete joke though!
Loud fans. Until they start losing - then yer can hear a pin drop - and that silence seeps down to the players on the field. So when they are up they are up - but when they are down they are really down fooking rock bottom. Which is clearly the sign of shi.te glory hunter supporters.
