Would there have been that attendance had there been a full football programme today?

Women's football was bigger than men's football up to about 1921 when the authorities banned? it.

    At today's match what % of the 31,00 were male/female ?

Leeds Women vs Donny Women, there'd have been just under 4 million there.

Presumably around 99%, with a further 1% not identifying as either.

Huge crowd. Odd that some appear to want to discredit it.

Obviously not. Why does that matter?

    It doesn't
But that is the main reason though.

The main reason the attendance was 31,000 is that 31,000 people bought tickets because they wanted to watch the game. There was a million and one things they could have done with their weekend and they chose that.

I enjoy watching women's football but having both these teams conveniently parachuted in at or near the top of the football pyramid at the expense of other, established teams such as Doncaster Rovers Belles) doesn't sit right with me. Manchester United Women in particular should have been made to work their way up the leagues.

Yes I get the argument that having the big teams in the top league helps promote the game but it still seems very unfair to the smaller teams.

    Affordable professional football matches.

    That's what everyone wants.

Apologies if I have come across as being anti women's football. I'm not.

I don't think it works like that. The top league is professional, the others aren't.

No but I think the point you raise is a valid one.

The difficulty for women’s football in terms of continued growth is retaining those supporters who would’ve otherwise gone to watch men’s football had there been a clash of fixtures.
