But stadium rules say to sit down, if you're stood up and get asked to sit down then that's to be expected. You can argue that you were unlucky but it's not beyond what would be expected.
He says in the original thread that he has an understanding of the rules but was asking if it had happened to anyone else that it doesn`t usually happen to and was this because of who our opponents were.
I stand every game too, Ive got my ticket at the back of the ponty for this reason not to inconvenient anyone else. Although a few stewards tried to get the lads at the bottom of the ponty to sit down yesterday down near the east stand, they got sent on their way too. Safe standing needs introducing soon, they've got it at Shrewsbury so why cant we
In the middle of the Ponty End people tend to stand when there's a corner at our end - an old bloke was shouting at people in the rows in front to sit down. They did not. He was angry. Benedict Cumberbatch to play me in the film adaptation.
Not whining, if it happens every game then no problem I’ll sit down. Just a bit weird why it happened yesterday and if it happened to anyone else
Of course it causes trouble you could lose control of the car and crash into someone else. If the motorway is empty you could kill yourself, emergency service would have to be deployed into the motorway. Putting at risk those workers until such time as the motorway could be shut. Standing up on the back row of a stand is harming no one in any way.
I agree in principle if they really want to enforce the rules then so be it. But it would have to be everyone in every stand at all times. The rules don't say sit down unless we have corner or score a goal or get a pen. So all times remain seated. Rules are rules.
May I suggest that you inform the steward that you 'sit' there because you have a back condition meaning you have to stand up at frequent intervals, otherwise your back 'locks' and you will be unable to move should the stadium be evacuated. If you are still asked to sit down then, as another posted has pointed out, other people stood also. Inform the person that you are being victimised, ask for his name and ID and report the person concerned.
Seems you have been picked on by some power hungry steward. I didn't see stewards asking the entire north stand to sit down or asking our Ponte End to do the same. Seems because you're a small group and not behind a goal, you are seen as a easy target when you're doing absolutely nothing wrong. Not everyone wants to sit on a piece of naff plastic that's not been replaced the whole time the stand has been there and with little leg room. They should give fans the option of having some padding added to their seats for extra comfort like you get at MK Dons.
I’m on east stand upper, back row as well and will stand on and off through a game never had an issue. I wonder if the Control room was particularity vigilant yesterday given our opponents and the with the expectation of trouble, the whole away end was stood for most of the game with little enforcement by the stewards, one bloke stood at the back of tge east stand likely to be more compliant than thousands in the away end. Unfair yes, but also realistic.
But there are some of us who like to watch the game in a calm and reflective mode. Our club must strive to be inclusive. I hope you are not loud Helen, by the way!
