It’s a bit sobering when a 16 year old shows far more statescraft, than the blundering idiot in No.10, and that crazed pillock in the White House

That girl showed more maturity and talked more sense than the whole gathering of numpty politicos at that summit. The vast majority of youngsters are showing more nouse on environmental and political issues than ever. It is just as well because the current political generation is messing up their future.

The weight if the world seems to be on that young girls shoulders. She doesn't deserve the stress at such a young age. If I was her dad I'd pull her out right now . You are only young once and she deserves a childhood .

Bang right. I think her parents have a lot to answer for.

Yes be passionate, but at least enjoy your childhood.

And yes, it looked very scripted to me.

I know what you're saying, but I think she does have a great future ahead of her. Lots of young people have had more to get over TBH. My great grandad was wounded in a trench at the Somme in 1916, after enlisting at the age of 16. How he got over that & lived happily till the age of 97 I will never know.

Good lass, nice to see someone of the younger generation so passionate about something that isn't instagram or fortnite.

The amount of grown adults getting angry about her is very strange. I’ve seen a few Facebook status and there are posts here. Strange as ****.

Given that her Mother wrote a book that was supposed to be about her family but was actually more about the climate, it’s probably fair to say the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

She's giving a speech at the UN. Hardly the sort of thing you give off the cuff, is it?

I have to say I've only come across her as others have mentioned her on twitter etc. Fair play to her that shes speaking out about what she believes in.

Haven't watched her speech but to be honest I don't want to . Not because I don't believe in climate change but because a child is being used as a political pawn by people who should know better . Talk of the Soros foundation backing her but I'm sure all will come out in due course . By the way if anyone wants to actually do something about the environment stop going on dumb ass holidays because they feel they need to " see the world " or buying oversized luxury vehicles to make them feel like they ve done something with their lives . I really do despair at our supposed modern society's built around faux desires and needs .

A political pawn for what? Ensuring we have a habitable planet for years to come? Nah not for me either.

Intragenerational homogeity - the theory that each generation from different countries has more in common than they have with different generation from the same country.

So teenagers in the UK have more in common with those in Sweden, USA, China or Australia than they have with their parents.
