Apologies I was quick off the mark there. He is hardly going to revoke article 50 in her memory though is he and he was goaded. Likewise he didn't say anything to tarnish her name. I think a lot of this is anti Boris Johnson when all's said and done. Had it not been said by the PM it would be forgotten like the comments by the two Labour MP's. Whatever sells more newspapers though.
Anyone supporting Johnson needs to have a long hard look at themselves. He is treading a dangerous path. It isn’t somewhere we should go as a country.
I remember shortly after Jo Cox was murdered talking to a Brexit supporter at work. He intimated that because she spent so much time talking to Asians in her constituency she was somehow partly if not wholly responsible for her fate. I know not all Brexit supporters would share that view, but it just shows what sort of people there are out there - and yes , all the nastiest seem to be Farage/Brexit supporters.
My understanding here though is that quite a few Women MP's who are not leave with no deal supporters are receiving death threats in fact Swinson has even received death threats to her son. There is no doubt that Boris's language calling them Traitors and referring to the Benn Bill as the Surrender bill fuel the fanatics who are behind the threats. All that happened was Boris was politely asked to one down his language because of this. The fact he refused and then compounded this by saing what he did about honouring Jo Cox is a new depth I never thought I would see in British politics Why wouldnt MP's receiving death threats mention that one of them had already been murdered for not being an ardent Brexit supporter? I thought Cameron was Bad, I thought Teresa May was worse but both were at least civilised - I have no words for the contempt I have for Johnson - its beyond belief that he can carry on in this way and still have a realistic chance of winning an election -
Completely agree and I find this extremely concerning That anyone of any political persuasion can support such a person is something I am struggling to understand and I don't think it will end well for the country if he gets away with this behaviour
Wasn’t a good comment but it must be hard to think on the spot in front of hundreds of people all shouting at each other with people heckling everything you say. I’m sure he hardly expected her to brought into it. Wouldn’t envy any PM having to spontaneously answers questions to a baying mob.
Quite right SD, it was two Labour MPs who introduced the name of Jo Cox to the debate. One the MP for Spen Valley, the other the MP for Dewsbury.
In context with Boris calling MPs traitors and surrendering and language that incited Britain first supporters to kill JO.
It wasn't Spen Valley - that hasn't been a constituency for many years. I'm not sure who the MPs were offhand, but Batley and Spen was the constituency of Jo Cox until 2016. The MP who replaced her was her close friend and has been receiving threats in the same manner. Dewsbury is just next door.
Tha ability to think on your feet and provide an intelligent response, regardless of the audience, goes with the territory. If Johnson can't manage it, he's in the wrong job.
Language of incitement? I give you John McDonnell calling for Esther McVey MP to be "lynched", and the same bloke McDonnell having a laugh about Thatcher being assassinated - egged on and laughed at by Angela Raynor MP.
