Happy memories. If I could put Fleming, Owen Archdeacon, Agnew & Andy Saville into this current team, we would be a force. Appreciate Banks, Futch, Currie were great players, as were many from this time, but those could make a difference in our team IMO.
If you ever claim what you have done tonight ever again I will take you to court, and I will **** you up for the rest your life. Never ever do it again, You stupid ******* *****. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Apologies to the thread starter by the way. I really enjoyed your footage it brought back memories of my father and I at Oakwell in those days.
Up to the close season of 1991, I was a big fan of Machin. However, in the 1991/92 season he had the team playing some of the most defensive, tedious, boring football I've had the displeasure to witness. The following season, 1992/93, we then began to play football bypassing the midfield altogether. There were some obvious exceptions with this turgid fare. However, in my opinion, despite doing well in bringing in some extremely talented players, he was unable to get them playing in a style that best suited their strengths. For example, in two seasons under Machin, Neil Redfearn scored a grand total of eight league goals. Yet in the campaign prior to coming to Oakwell, Neil scored 18 for Oldham as they won the title. It's good, though, reading opinions which are polar opposite to mine regarding the Machin era.
Thanks for posting this and your other videos @kendraytyke, they really are thoroughly enjoyable to watch. I'm bored senseless on a days annual leave today and ended up doing some work. Fortunately your videos have given me a very enjoyable distraction.
Do you have a web site with links to all the stuff you are putting up on youtube? Just wondered if there is a consolidated list somewhere.
Subscribe to his channel on youtube mate, if you click on the video & click on "open in youtube" you can then click on his channel "Barnsley FC Video Archive The Reds On Film" & they are all there. If you subscribe you'll get new stuff he posts.
This acurately mirrors my memory of the Mad Mel era. Saved us in 1990, kicked on to the brink of the play offs in '91 and then it fell apart with dour football and bizare formations & tactics. Happy days though, I was young & daft and without a care in the world in 1990
The problem started when he employed Mick Wadsworth as first team coach. He was an exponent of the Charles Hughes theory so it turned a cultured player like Owen Archdeacon into a player who just hoofed it down the field to the centre forward.
Firstly it would be libel, not slander, and secondly you can't libel a dead man. Although ironically, wrongly accusing someone of libel or slander might itself be libel...
