Surrender,? Traitors ,? This is the language of war not parliamentary debate ! Whatever anyone else thinks most MPs (apart from a few who have lots personally to gain) are doing what they believe to be in the best interest of the country . They are elected to do what they believe to be best for the country . Most are not against Brexit but don’t believe what the govt had negotiated or not negotiated is best for the country . They are for Brexit but not any Brexit especially a Tory only zBrexit which is more in line with individuals rather than the good of the country . This Tory Government has made a shower of the whole situation ,instead of involving the whole of Parliament which is what should have happened they decided it was just for them , This is why many are voting against this exclusive deal:no deal Brexit. There are some who obviously don’t want Brexit just as there are some who only want no deal . But the majority sit between and if a parliamentary Brexit had been agreed on a cross party consensus just as the campaigning had been done cross party we wouldn’t be in this Tory **** storm and would have been out of the EU. I for one dint want a no deal situation and hope my MP gets helps the best deal without disrupting our economy etc .
If we leave on Oct 31st, it is not the end of Brexit. It is the *end of the start of Brexit*. It will be dominating our news, government and political agenda for the next 10+ years while we rebuild the trade relationships we are giving up (at a disadvantage) until demographics means that we eventually rejoin in the 2030s or 40s. Anyone that says it will be quick, easy, or cheap is lying. Anyone that says that Oct 31st is the end of it is lying. Anyone that says we just need to get it done is lying. Anyone that thinks the country will come together afterwards is lying. Either way. Whatever happens it will be 20-30 years before the country can start to come together. Maybe we can avoid the civil war that some people are predicting or the "Khmer Rouge" style purges of dissidents, thinkers and teachers that some people have also suggested. But there are futures where these happen and far too many of the country are cheering our descent into madness.
a hint of bullying (and irrationality here) here PR. Disregard the result of a democratic vote and democracy is threatened.
again Marlon you manage to post at length a political message without ever referring to the word 'Democracy' - why?
A kinder, gentler politics you ask........ "I hereby float the idea of a remain alliance, to decapitate that blond head in Uxbridge and South Ruislip, if Johnson calls a snap election to deliver Brexit,” wrote Sir Ed Davey, Liberal Democrat MP.
The thing is people still seem surprised that her names being wheeled out again in an attempt to score cheap points. In that children in adult bodys, oversized over paid egotisitical shithouse thats Parliament its nothing new. The only thing that surprises me is that they havent quite descended to throwing **** at each other. I often wonder why some people be it in parliament, in the media or even on here get so hysterical and aggresive if someone has a differing viewpoint. I thought we were taught to be respectful and tolerent of other opinions even if you dont agree. Those overpaid clowns frothing at the gums cant manage it but I am sure We can.
Ignoring people who voted leave is simplistic, not simple. It's true, people can vote or not vote for that policy, but the intention is quite clear from the LibDems - "We will ignore those who voted Leave, you people do not matter". At least with the Tories you know they are cruel, nasty pieces of work. The Lib Dems however have more faces than the town hall clock. Anyone on here voting for them because they want a "Remain" outcome, should think very carefully. You'll not onloy alienate and split the country for years to come, you'll end up with a load of Tory policies under a Lib Dem manifesto.
What I don't get is...when asked about the Benn bill. Boris is so assured in saying the U.K will leave the EU on the 31st October? You wouldn't be that co ck sure if you were about to be made to look a fool for the umpteenth time in succession.
Yes but as stated above and previously it has conclusively without the shadow of any doubt been proven that McDonnell said nothing of the sort. You can even watch the actual footage.
correct, parliament yesterday was an absolute embarrassment, re- jo cox, it was actually tracey brabin that brought her name into it , boris just answered, they didn,t mention that on the news though, just " boris johnson said" etc....
I listened to the actual footage. McDonnell...." I was up in Liverpool a fortnight ago where Alan McFadden, one of our organisers, launched our "Sack Esther McVey Day." (Background cheers and laughter)......".on her birthday"..(more cheers). McDonnell continues..." I spoke at a packed public meeting, it was absolutely packed, there was a whole group in the audience which completely kicked off, quite critical of the whole concept, because they were arguing, Why are we sacking her, why aren't we lynching the bitch.?" (More cheers and laughter). When later asked to apologise, as he appears to endorse the lynching comment, he refused and called her .." a stain on humanity."
So apart from the fact he didn't say it and the fact that she,as a minister, was totally heartless where is the problem ?
He quoted it, thereby endorsing it, as he refused to condemn it. And I'm not disacussing her capabilities as a minister, I'm drawing attention to the language used by McDonnell. There's the problem.
I'm a labour voter and have been all my life. I believe it was right to challenge the PM on the use of language that has become commonplace of late and I'm disgusted by his arrogance. Saying that, I am not so sure it was necessary to bring Jo Cox into it. Emotions were running high so I can totally understand why Paula and Tracy said it as they were both very upset, but perhaps it could've been done slightly differently in hindsight. Nobody should be receiving death threats either.
