You're picking the wrong target it's not those lads fault it's not the coaches. They've been given a poisoned chalice, our defence today should still be playing in the U23s and being introduced to the Championship one at a time surrounded by experienced pros. Not dropped in the deep end with a brick tied round their necks because thats what expecting kids some of who are new to the country never mind the league to compete week on week out in the Championship is like. It's about time the rose tinted glasses some of our fans wear when the board is mentioned are taken off. The problem lies at the feet of the board and the recruitment team who because of the stupidly strict way they've implemented their recruitment and retention policy have stripped the playing squad of its spine in one window and compounded that by signing untried kids hoping they'd be able to compete in the strongest second tier in world football. If you must take your frustration out on somebody the people responsible are the Board.

I agree, these young lads should not be screamed at and insulted by our fans. The frustration should be aimed at the owners.

For any players who do read this forum, you've got the fans backing and the sensible fans understand the situation you've been thrown into. Keep going lads, I hope you can get this mess turned around. We don't blame you.

As your contact gone? Asking as a lad who's father was employed by the club for 15 years who couldn't stand Cryne at the end of it.

I've been reading stuff on Facebook and there are still people trying to work out who's at fault, ie board, manager or players.

11 games in and the penny still hasn't dropped with some of our fans.

No, my best pal is still very much there. I know quite alot but I won't be commenting on the happenings behind closed doors as I've been told things in good faith and asked not to post about it on here. I also worked with 7 or 8 of the staff who are still there, it's not just the 1.

I can understand why some didn't like him, there was plenty of them believe me! I always got on very well with him, mind. He could lose his temper like you wouldn't believe, as I've posted before I saw what happened with Robins.. wow.

Just idiots. Whatever the team lack it isn’t heart or effort. They have been chucked in the deep end and are trying to swim. It was a very depressing day but turning on the team will achieve nowt.

It is flustrasting being on the end of such a mauling today and some fans tend to vent their feelings on the players which is wrong and only tends to make matters worse. The fault lies with those who sell experienced players to be replaced by a team of young inexperienced players thrown into the lions den which is the championship and then wonder why they struggle. This board aren't interested in football let alone in furthering Barnsley FC . They are a collection of business people who think they can make a good profit on a relative short term investment. That's why Mr Moore, Pinnock and Lynsey were sold because if they had stayed they would not have made the profit they have by replacing them with young inferior players that have potential to improve. Patrick Cryne was the last owner who was a true fan however he did not have as much financial clout as needed to invest in the team as football requires at higher levels these days.

    Great post. Couldn’t agree more.

The problem is Conway & whoever make the decisions aren’t there for anyone to vent their frustrations at so the players end up getting it

Don’t blame the team they all know they are pushing above the weight. Blame the club how it is ran

The worst thing by far out of all this, is that even if you look at it from a business point of view, it’s still a failure.

    Why?

Because in business you have to learn from your mistakes and not repeat them. We’ve repeated what we did last time in the Championship. Full stop. That lead to relegation. Here we are again, doing the same thing, with potentially the same result.

Football and/or business wise, our current situation doesn’t stack up.

I can only presume, that come Jan, the club are planning to bolster the squad accordingly - with a McBurnie and Pinnillos type signings. We’ll soon know. Might be too late.

I have always been willing to cut the owners some slack and accept they will make mistakes as they go etc, but have to be honest and say when I see a poster such as yourself, seemingly go from positive to very negative about the situation causes more concerns for me.
Not meant as a pop at you BTW

No but it will in 18 months time when this same set of players have ripped league 1 apart again so their asset value will be high just as Lindsey's, Pinnock and Moore's were this summer because don't forget they had all failed miserably at championship level the season before and the merry go round starts again and the owners are happy because they've made a profit on this STOCK, the idealism is no different than say someone selling chickens, or flowers
football is all about short termism and profits not points these days
