This "once a red, always a red" thing, does that apply to players like Chris Morgan, Miguel Mostto, Mido and Emmanuel Frimpong? Just wondering.
Were Mostto Mido and Frimpong ever a red in the first place ? Morgan is the only tricky one as he was really a red once
It's a very confusing slogan then. I think we should stop using it as it's quite misrepresentative of its actual meaning.
Imo if they say it and feel it then yes. Morgans from Barnsley so it has to be yes. Doesn't make the Hume incident any more palatable though.
But that doesn't make any sense. The slogan is clearly "once a red, always a red". They all played for us so why does it only apply to the one that got away with assaulting someone? It's very confusing, I hope someone can help me out with this, cos I'm in a right old pickle.
It's emotion and as you dont see football that way it will be hard to understand. Basically if you've given you're all for Barnsley then you're in the club.
It's easy to understand Helen isn't it? It's an honour that we, the fans, bestow on some players, managers, coaches etc. after they've left the club. We don't bestow such an honour lightly, do we?
Ok, can we change it to "if you were employed by Barnsley and meet some vague standards set by the majority, always a red"? I feel that's more accurate.
"If you played or managed Barnsley FC, were a fan favourite at the time, and, despite moving on to new pastures, are still regarded with affection, always a Red". Are you happy now?
