You'll have to tell me the hotels... so I can avoid them ;-)

Ending up plumping for Lviv in Ukraine for 3 nights. Thanks for the input guys. We tend to try and get away 5-6 times a year for city breaks and maybe 2 slightly longer haul places, so the other places will certainly be in consideration for future bookings.

    Thanks all.

We're having a look at Georgia/Azerbaijan and Armenia in May. if you've any input and guidance for places to see, avoid and general tips for that neck of the woods, I'd be hugely grateful.

The Mrs has asked about public transport costs and frequencies if we're staying in multiple places. Her initial digging suggests some of the train journeys are pretty lengthy, but we've only just starting our first dig research!

Thanks in advance, and if you prefer to message me, feel free.

    Ta muchly!

You beat me to that. I concur 100%. Went on a day trip from Rovinj in Croatia. Was a bloody long day on the bus but so worth it. Most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life.

Myself and the missus got married last year after 25 years and we considered doing it at Bled in the Castle, but in the end ran off to Gretna on our own.

But a visit to Ljubljana is on the to do list, purely for the (much shorter) ride up to Bled.

    Hi DWLC
I’m not much of an expert on public transport between cities to be honest. We have a car and drive in Georgia, I haven’t been to Armenia yet and went to Baku by plane. From what I do know the trains are relatively slow for the distance covered - Tbilisi to Baku being 13 hours I think. Tbilisi to Yerevan is overnight. You can hire cars with and without drivers though. Lots of minibuses doing journeys also.

I have a mate here this weekend who works in Dilijan in Armenia. It took him 4 hours to get here. He loves Armenia though.

I only visited Baku in Azerbaijan as it was a working trip. The old town was worth an afternoon, the rest of it was like a cheaper smaller Dubai.

Not biased, but Georgia is the best of the three. Tbilisi has plenty to offer and worth a number of days. Signagi in Kakheti is worth it. Nice place in the wine region. Kazbegi / Stepantsminda is also worth the visit. I wouldn’t waste time and travel on Batumi though.

Drop us a message when you are coming and we could meet for a beer or two...

I went to Bergen while I was in the Army, we had a stopover there before we travelled north for six weeks of military exercises. It's a long time ago now but I loved it so based on my experience I would recommend it.
