I think there will be some form of reaction. Whether that reaction is enough to get a result is debatable.
Id love to see the record of our new managers 1st games in charge. We always seem to do terrible. I remember spackmans 1st game being a particular bad one. Anyone got a list or way too much free time on their hands. Im guessing stendals was the best 1st game......
Yes we rarely seem to get the benefit of hiring a new boss like other clubs do. Didn't Morais lose his first game, at home to Burton?
Depends how he sets our team up really. Been reading that he normally sticks to a 4-4-2. Also likes to employ a high press and has used a diamond formation. Usually leaves two forwards up front to attack the oppositions defence. Just got to hope he's given some experienced players in the January window, if he's to have the remotest chance of keeping us up.
Was Stendel tactically inept? Was he unable to motivate and get the best out of the players? If management wasn’t the problem, I’m not sure that new management is the solution...
You can outline tactics with the players all day long. The problem is that once they cross the white line all of what they've been told can go out of the window. Our problems thus far, have been down to sloppy defending at set pieces and certain players not converting what appear to be relatively easy chances at the other end of the pitch. It's easier said than done, but if he can correct those basic problems, he stands a chance of improving our results.
I actually am optimistic of the short term results. I think we will see 5-7 pts from the next 3 games. I also think it won't be anywhere near enough and will gradually drift back to business as usual and I have no doubt in my mind that we won't see necessary investments in January to ensure survival.
We've been on the receiving end of the new manager effect often enough, it would be nice to have the boot on the other foot for once. I'm not expecting it though. New country, new town, new club, new bosses, new players, new league... it's a lot to expect anyone to hit the ground running. But stranger things have happened.
Wrong game that I think. Brendan and blackadder is the one. Only team to win at Elland Rd that season.
Machins first game was at home to Leeds with Darren Foreman scoring. But yes, we then went on to do the double over them.
