I was and still am a big fan of Daniel Stendel but now we have to move on. Time to give GS ,his staff and the players our full support in the task of keeping in the division if at all possible. The board took the decision to sell defensive unit and centre forward which pulled the rug from under Daniels feet not the present squad or Gerhard Struber. But I am a Barnsley FC fan first and formost . So come on Barnsley FC let's get our second win tomorrow . Gotta be optimistic if you are a Barnsley fan
People did. Nothing changed. Fans are not the problem. They are not supporting badly. Nobody is having a go at or blaming GS for anything. I begrudge the number of these threads that seem to suggest we’d be winning games if only the fans could be arsed to support that little bit better.
I support GS 100%, none of this is his fault but supporting him doesn't mean that I'm any less angry with our owners for the way they are running the club and for the way Daniel was treated.
The problem is that the Board will not support him. Not in January, and not in May once we are relegated. You support a club - not a manager. And for many people there will be question marks about whether the club as currently constituted is worthy of that support.
None of it's his fault. I agree. However, I hope he found out on Saturday that a couple of players he put in certain positions are going to put us 2 or 3 goals down before we start.
He has my support. Will the board support him when he needs them to? Only time will tell. In fairness he has an easy ride this season. We will be relegated unless we act drastically and it won’t be his fault. When We go down he will have a decent team to try and get back up and so thee wheel spins
The number of threads whining about Stendel's departure would say otherwise. I agree with the OP. It's time to move on.
I havent seen many threads moaning about Stendel going in recent days and none moaning abut Murray going. Pretty much everyone is prepared to support Struber but most of us recognise the fundamental problem isnt the head coach - we can support Struber but still be critical of the club strategy
Dont remember it was the boards decision to sell the defensive unit. Was my understanding they all wanted to leave.
once again misinformation, the board ( and i dont agree with the way the policy is being implemented) did not decide to sell pinnock , davies, and lindsey they were offered new/extensions and wouldnt sign as they wanted away for whatever reasons
Yes, but of course they wanted to leave, because the wages we offer are far too low compared to most other clubs at our (current) level. To me, the solution is simple - halve the size of the squad and keep the total wage budget the same, thereby doubling an individual player's salary. We'll never, ever compete if we spread our already meagre wage budget over so many players.
Depends what is classed as an offer. We've lost too many good players down recent years due to non-acceptance of contract offers. It keeps happening and will continue to do so. The club's not known for it's generosity to keep players... it's not in their dna.
Our fans will always support Daniel for all he did for us. That doesn't mean we aren't supporting Struber 100% in the hope he can pull off the biggest miracle in our entire history.
Forget about contracts,if a player wants to go get what you can and get shut.Every club from top to bottom does this.
