Who wasn't concerned by the sale of Moore, Lindsay & Pinnock, and thought the new signings would be good enough to make a fist of it in the championship? Who thought we'd beat Fulham on the first day? It's not a test, just let me know what you were thinking in the summer. Feel free to drag up old posts relating to it.
I was worried at first but after the Fulham game (which I thought we’d lose) I was confident of a mid-table finish.
there was nothing to do about the sale of lindsey and pinnock apart from offer them stupid money and risk all the other players demanding the same therefore starting a wages free for all and busting the club. i was sorry to see moore go but can understand the business aspect of it. to answer the question after the fulham game i thought we looked like world beaters, we'd just come up they had just comedown and we gaffered 'em ( shows what i know) i honestly thought we could be serious contenders
I thought we’d finish 19th and we will. Very disappointed about pinnock leaving. The rest? Meh I was more optimistic about Halme joining than I would have been retaining Jackson.
I didn’t think we’d beat Fulham and even though we lost the spine of the team I honestly thought we’d be competitive enough to end up with a comfortable mid table finish.
Thought we would be competitive and tough to beat after Fulham game , all gone wrong since that first game
After like you said losing the spine, I saw the Fulham team and honestly thought we'd ship 5, what I saw gave me a feeling that relegation wouldn't be a worry at all, sadly clearly an off day for Fulham.
I thought we'd finish 20th at best and was one of the many that got brickbats after the win against Fulham. I've not seen Mahoney's Waist et al since.
Re the actual Fulham game, as well as we played, it was a very tight game in terms of shots on and off target, but Fulham still had more possession and forced 1 more save. I think we all got a bit giddy because of the strength of their squad.
Been a disastrous season so far , we gave a few a game , Leeds , forest and West Brom but some of defence decisions and boardroom decisions have been shocking
I got dogs abuse for ages at the start of the season for saying we weren’t prepared and had weakened ourselves.
Do it in a separate thread please mate, this boards bad enough for going off on tangents as it is. I keep reading how 'most people thought this team would be good enough', so I just thought I'd put it up for people to either confirm or deny, because I don't think most people did.
I thought we might be OK and was supportive of the board through the Summer, up until the late sales of Pinnock, Lindsay and Moore and the disappointing replacements. At that point I changed my mind quickly.
The defence of last year wouldn't have conceded half the stupid ones we have this time around. I thought we'd be fine though even with the new players, I think most of us did, I definitely didn't expect to be waiting 3 years for our next win after the Fulham game - or does it just seem like 3 years.
