Great performance, lovely set up for Mowatt's goal, great finish for his own goal, a creator of space all over the midfield with what looks lke a simple ball, second to Mowatt in my MOM
His instant control is absolutely sublime. He can frustrate with the odd wayward pass but there’s much to appreciate. Don’t understand some of the criticism he gets. An absolute joy to watch.
Yesterday in the second half on one occasion the ball dropped to him from miles high in the sky over his shoulder. It was incredible control as the ball just stopped at his feet. He tries to play the killer pass mostly, and it can go wrong, but on yesterday's form he's a real asset in the new system.
He had a very good game yesterday and technically I think he’s the best footballer at the Club. But needs to do it over 90 mins and improve his decision making. We’re bottom of the league not top so not a lot of room for over extravagance.
Twice he took balls out of the clouds and not only controlled the ball, but moved with it as they landed. Magical stuff. There was also a moment first half where he slid from 5 yards, took the ball off the player, got the ball back from Mowatt and jinked past his man before getting hauled down. He has these moments in most games. What he's always lacked since coming here has been a product. Not enough goals, not enough assists, not enough defending. You have to affect the result. Yesterday he did that in many ways. Long may it continue.
Showed lots of the class we know he's got. He was unlucky to lose the ball in the build up to the Hull goal.
Played great. A few stupid, useless passes as usual, but the good very much outweighed the bad. Mike - you're one of the most technically gifted players ever to put on the Barnsley shirt. There's no reason at all why you can't be playing in the Premier League in a couple of years. In the meantime, can I just ask that you pay like you did yesterday a lot more often and you pay like a lovely person far less. Thank you
As Gddiswasguud has already said in this thread.. His completed pass ratio was the best on the pitch at 89%. I suppose in other games the more passes you make even if the competion % ratio is good the more incomplete passes you make so that makes it appear that Bahre makes lots of wayward passes. As others have said, his workrate and commitment yesterday was on par with his undoubted ball skills. He is IMO the most technically gifted player in the squad. Controversially, and many may disagree, to me, at least, Cauley has been a little off recently when it comes to both finishing and in his overall ball control (loose passes and first touch in midfield areas). The last couple of games certainly the mid week game he had at least two gilt edged chances to score but leaned back and blazed over the bar when several matches ago you would have put odds on he would have scored. Given how many people regard him as our best finisher he has been a little disappointing. He seems at his best when he has little space and no time to think. Bahre (ironically) Mowatt and Chaplin all showed cool heads and composure with their goals. Whilst I still rate him highly as a Championship striker, I could see Bahre, Mowatt and Chaplin making the step up to the Premiership above Cauley.
Tbh I cant see any of them in the Premiership BUT if magic Mike starts getting the goals regularly then he's the most likely of the 3. Alex is definitely Championship class though.
Great to see those 4 players you just mentioned, on the ball. Make us look a lot more comfortable in possesion ....all footballers....hope we can keep it up.
he would be great as a luxury player in the 96 promotion team, playing the bullock / marcelle role allowed some freedom to get in attacking positions. playing in this team however we arent as secure in midfield which is a shame as he is probably the most technically good player we have
Where has this magic mike rubbish come from? Hes been bloody awful for 90% of this season. Yes he had a decent game against hull but he still cant tackle and gives the ball away more than any other player with sloppy and lackadaisical play. Great finish but where has that been since beginning of season? Goes missing far too easy when the chips are down for me.
