I wouldn't have them for pre season. The first team need clubs higher up the pyramid and our developmental squad I would prefer to play local teams so our fans who go watch are putting money into the local community like when we play Athersley and Penistone.
He'll always have the honour of being the first manager to get Barnsley into the top division. And Buxton's a nice place.
Taking a job in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, tells you one thing. Danny is not in it for the money, he simply loves the game and needs to be involved. It was a fairytale when he first came to Barnsley with Viv Anderson and under his sole custodianship he then managed to get us into the Premiership for the very first time. It left a nasty taste when he went to manage Sheffield Wednesday, but I'm sure it goes without saying that the majority of our fans will wish him nothing but the best during his time at Buxton and whatever he chooses to do in the future. Good luck Danny boy.
Hasn’t he just done some coaching for them for a few days and took charge of their weekend game as a one off? At least that’s what their twitter account implies
Stayed overnight in the Old Hall Hotel opposite the Buxton Theatre. Absolutely cracking pint of Doombar on draught. Really nice place is Buxton.
That’s what I was going to post what is Donny doing drinking Doom Bar in the Old Hall when Buxton Tap is round the corner . Having said that I nearly killed myself after a sesh in the Buxton , slipped in the bath at the room in the Old Hall brought the plastic shower curtain down on top of me and inhaled at the wrong time nearly suffocating myself . Doesn’t Danny Wilson live around there ?
We stayed there early this year, the brewery tap round the corner is worth the train ride from Donny.
All the best Danny! Walking in a Wilson wonderland! For many of us they were just incredible times. Unfortunately we’ll never see those days again, at least not under this ownership
