Anyone see his post match interview last night (it's here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50681751). It's been said before but I have to say it again - he's honest, straight and just talks so much sense. Outstanding manager in my view.
What's one of the fist things you get told as young un playing football? play to the whistle, the blunts failed themselves and a goal was correctly awarded. Dry thi eyes Chris, you would have lost anyway.
They were losing so it seems a bit sour grapes to me. As others have said play to the whistle, his players messed up there.
Wouldn't have thought so as he's British so will get overlooked for the bigger jobs like Dyche does. If he was called something like Cristophe Wilderio he'd probably stand a chance.
I like Wilder but he's chatting **** on this occasion, the players know full well that they have to keep playing til the ref blows his whistle, even if the linesman has his way. He's just trying to deflect attention from his defenders and keepers amateurish actions.
2 things about the blunts do my head in. 1. Wilder just talking and talking and talking. 2. Wilder just talking and talking and talking.
Detracting attention from the fact that the bubble has burst and they lost against a team they should be beating if they are to survive this season. It's a long season I think they'll still go down.
Haha, I get the impression I'm in a minority on this! In fact it may just be me!! Actually I didn't make my point very clearly, I agree the players should have played to the whistle - although to be fair he does make that point too. What I agree with him about is that it's a different game from the one we grew up with, and mostly not in a good way. It would be an exaggeration to say it sucks the life out of me (although I get why as a manager he would feel so strongly) but it is really frustrating. Cheating is rife. And I include us in this, although we're not as good at it as many / most other teams. There was an incident against Hull when Mowatt waited for contact from behind which was when it came minimal but he nevertheless threw himself to the ground. Several people around me commented on it and laughed, as did I - but everyone else doing it still doesn't make it right imo. I hate the amount of simulation and the extent to which it's justified by commentators / summarisers. The "there was contact" and "he had a right to go down" comments are just bullsh*t. They should call it for what it is - cheating. The PL is far worse than the Championship to be fair but there are still several instances per game. And so far VAR is just rubbish isn't it?
Wilder talks a lot of sense! What a load of cobblers! If my players stopped playing to the whistle (taught to all 5 year olds upwards) they would be docked a months wages
Not seen his interview or the match. Bloody good manager. If he leaves the Blunts are sunk, so hope someone comes in for him. I have more malice for Wednesday personally, but we are not going to cry any tears at Oakwell if Utd crash...
