If we can score four goals then we should be ok.

I think there will be changes in the defensive "6". He might change formation as well

In all honesty people may think playing the academy is a bad thing but they can't do worse than losing which is what the spreadsheet 11 is doing anyway. At least they aren't low in confidence

Who from the academy? I think Struber needs to stick to his guns and keep as near the same team. I'd still rather Cavare if mistakes are going to be made anyway but I know others will disagree. What he needs to do is shout at them to communicate.

The under 23's back four for me.
There is absolutely no improvement from our defence no matter how many games they have so why keep persisting with them? Let's face it the sole reason they are playing is because the spreadsheet selected them

I'm not sure of all their names but Fielding has to be worth a go at least, same with Barnett.

I disagree if you watch the standard of the u23s compared to the championship its massive. And apart from Walton shouting there wasnt heaps of communication. I know it's easy to say they couldn't do any worse but they really could, plus not be able to get attacks going so freely. Theres a reason why its called a development side.

But have you seen anything to suggest that our current defence should be playing in anything other than a development side themselves?

They are better than the u23s. Go and watch a match and see what you think.

In that case our club is in much bigger trouble than I thought and the whole concept of our recruitment from top to bottom needs throwing out of the window.

Just when it was difficult to imagine things getting any worse.

It's interesting when you look at the age-range of the first team back four vs the u23 back four:

    FIRST (combined age: 82):
    B Williams (20)
    Diaby (21)
    Andersen (21)
    J Williams (20)

    U23 (combined age: 78):
    Barnett (20)
    Fielding (20)
    Moon (19)
    Gagen (19)

That's an average of a year's difference per player. Some on here have said how players in the U23s' bodies aren't developed enough etc for the first team but on these figures there's nothing in it.

I don't think we should replace the entire back four with the u23s by the way, but we could maybe phase individuals in over the course of the season as the shipping of goals is obviously a major concern.

You are lacking in imagination them I can easily imagine things getting worse. Losing Halme is a big blow though

Collins and Pinillos in for me. The latter is not everyone's cup of tea, but IMHO defensively he's our best left back. Maybe a bit past it at 27 though...

I don't think Halme is suspended. Cut off for 5 bookings is after 19 games, yesterday was our 20th.

How on earth anyone thinks Radlinger is the better keeper is beyond me.
Collins every time in my book.
